Starstorm Report #30: A new year, a new APL Season, a new Update!

Hey all! We've been living in 2014 for about a week now and even though it's a little bit late: we'd like to wish you all the best for the new year! Based on all the cool content that we've got lined up for Awesomenauts: Starstorm, we're pretty sure that 2014 is going to be awesome!

We plan on kicking off the new year with an awesome new update for Awesomenauts. Update 2.1 will contain many balance fixes as well as more settings for you to tweak in the Custom Games feature.

The new settings will allow you to play a gamemode that we've come to know as Randonauts. In this game mode, all players play with a randomly selected 'Naut, a random loadout, and will purchase their items in a random order. Dying will mean you respawn with a new character, a new loadout, and new upgrades. That might sound like it it gets a little chaotic, but believe me - it gets incredibly, deliciously chaotic really REALLY fast! It really is a ton of fun, so I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we've been enjoying it here in the office!

Randonauts will be part of the Beta update we're pushing out this week, so make sure to keep checking our Facebook, Twitter, or Starstorm Beta forum if you're one of our backers with Beta access. If you take it out for a spin, please let us know what you think of the new features by leaving your feedback on the Beta forum. All other users will get access to the settings required for Randonauts soon! If all goes well, Update 2.1 should be releasing early next week. No promises, but we'll do what we can to get it out as soon as possible!

In other news, the very first Awesomenauts Pro League Season has opened! More than one hundred teams from across the world have signed up for the APL and they will be facing off throughout the month to determine who comes out on top. Winners will move up the ladder for coming seasons, so best of luck to all those participating!

If you and your friends didn't sign up, but would love to get into the League as a pre-made team, make sure to sign up for the next season (which will kick off in February) and show the world what you're made of!

Team Ronma is off to flying start in this new season, and has claimed victory in the first match-up. Nothing will stand in our way! Team Ronma for 2014 APL Champions!

No cheats, we swear!

Furthermore, tomorrow will see the launch of an all-new Awesomenauts podcast: the Droppod! This show will be hosted by FourCourtJester, Weazel, Naaza, and SlowWolf and will focus on all things Awesomenauts. Everything ranging from balance discussions and talks about new Beta content, to developer interviews and general, chaotic randomness will make an appearance on the show. Make sure to tune in to the Droppod through the official APL twitch.tv channel tomorrow at 19:00 GMT! To figure out what that means for your timezone, check out this nifty tool!

For those backers who are eagerly awaiting their physical rewards from this campaign, I'm afraid we have some disappointing news. A significant number of backers has not yet responded to the survey we sent out, and we're waiting a couple more days to give them the opportunity to catch up. There are about 200 people out there who have not yet responded to the survey, so if you happen to know any friends that backed the campaign in the Silver tier or higher, could you poke them and ask them whether they filled it out yet? Thanks in advance. We'll get production started next week, so if you haven't yet filled it out this really is your last chance to get to it!

Shipping the Clunk figurines is also taking longer than expected, and we'll let you know when there are any developments on that. Unfortunately, it currently looks like it will take another month and a bit to get them ready for shipping to your doorstep. We're really sorry that all these rewards are taking longer to ship than we anticipated, but we're doing what we can to get it all sorted out! Bear with us, just a little longer :)

That covers all the news we have for you today. Make sure to follow us on Facebook or Twitter to stay updated on all the news and developments regarding update 2.1. We'll announce it there once we know exactly when the new update will launch!

Stay awesome in 2014!

- Robin

PS. If you still haven't received your Starstorm keys for any reason, please send me an email at robin@ronimo-games.com and I will get back to you before the end of the week.

hey when are we going to receive our costume pack

    4. Creator Radu Andi on January 8, 2014

      Hey, guys!
I was wondering when will we receive the art book with all the sketches and all the cool art you guys have?
It's mainly the reason why I went for the Bronze tier (and then updated for the badge and skins) and the Road Map doesn't specify anything about it.
      Any information, please?
