Starstorm Update #23: Ted McBeta inbound, Autumnauts Finals this Weekend!
It's been another interesting week here at Ronimo Games, and we have made a couple of big steps for Awesomenauts! For one, we began development on the spectator mode, or as Kewn would say: SPECTATOR MODE!!1!!one!! Until now, we had been doing research to find a good way to take on this challenge but this week we started actual development on the saveable replays, which will be the first forM in which this feature is released. This will be our highest priority over the coming weeks, and we will strive to get this feature into your hands before the year is out! No promises though, but we'll do what we can.
We also did a lot of work on Ted McPain. His Air Strike ability is now fully functional, though we still need to implement the visuals for this skill. We have done a lot of playtesting ourselves to work out the biggest kinks and get a preliminary balance in place. He's fun, but there's still plenty of work to be done to get him ready for release. We'd like to get your feedback on him, so we'll be launching the Ted McPain Beta for all backers in the Iron Tier and above next Tuesday.
Before we kick off the Beta, our designer Fabian will be hosting a livestream to show off the character and answer all your quEstions about him. He has been working on Ted McPain for the last couple of weeks, so if there is anything you'd like to know make sure you tune in to our Twitch.tv next Tuesday at 17:00 CET (head over here to find out what that means for your timezone). Once the livestream concludes, the Beta will go live and you can take Ted McPain out for a spin yourselves!
As many of you know, the Autumnauts tournament kicked off last weekend. This is the first round in the upcoming APL Season, and after a long weekend of intense matches, only four teams remain. This Saturday, these remaining teams will face-off in the Grand Finals! The first matches will be played at 21:00 CET between Nautorious Nauts and Technoprisoners, who are facing off for the Bronze medaL in this competition. At 23:00 CET, reigning champions Team Discovery Channel will compete against Team Right Click to decide who will be crowned champions of the Autumnauts 2013. Make sure to watch the matches over on the official APL Twitch channel! To figure out at what time the matches will be played in your timezone, head over here.
In case you missed any of the matches last weekend, you can still check them out by heading over to the APL Red channel (which streamed all smaller matches played on the US West Coast), the APL Blue channel (which hosted all smaller matches on the US East Coast), and the regular Awesomenauts Pro League channel (which hosted all the main events and the finals).
We are currently preparing to launch the Beta for 1.26 next Tuesday. That's right, I said 1.26! We didn't forget about 1.25, and in fact, we're aiming to releaSe that update next week (probably towards the end of the week). The exact contents of that update are a suprise for now, but it'll include a couple of bugfixes as well as new content! More news on that will follow early next week!
For now, have a good weekend and don't forget to check out the APL Finals this Saturday!
