Starstorm Report #10: Foxy-'Naut goal reached! Basic Replay Functionality at $330,000

This was a triumph! I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS!

Yesterday, we reached the "Custom Games" stretch goal and the momentum has kept up tremendously! This morning, we blasted past the bonus goal that we set at $290,000, which means that the new Awesomenaut we announced last Wednesday will be included in the Starstorm expansion! Awesome stuff!

The concept art and basic ideas that we shared for this Awesomenaut were part of the very first stages of preproduction, but we'll be fleshing out the visual design and all of the ideas and mechanics going into this character over the next couple of months. Once we have more to share on this, we'll let you know!

New Replays Stretch Goal

Now that we've reached the $290,000 bonus goal, we have a long road ahead of us to reach the next stretchgoal at $380,000. When we reach that, we'll be upgrading the Spectator mode that was already included in the base goal to another system that is a lot more flexible and has many more features. For instance, this system would allow an almost infinite number of players to spectate a match simultaneously, saves replays of all your games played, and allows you to watch the replays saved by other players (if they choose to share these, of course).

We know this goal is still quite far off, and might appear a little out of reach with only about four days left to go. For that reason, we've been thinking about ways in which we could split this goal up into smaller parts. We came up with a way to make a simplified version of the Replays System, and added a stretch goal for this feature at $330,000.

If we reach this goal, we'll build a system that automatically records and stores all matches you play. You can then watch these replays, skip from moment to moment, follow all the players around, pause the action, speed it up or slow it down, and move the camera around freely. You will also be able to share these replays with your friends by exchanging the file.

We will look into ways to make this sharing process more organized, so that it's all handled through Steam for example. Because these plans came up over the last couple of days, we haven't had enough time to figure out exactly how that would work. Therefore, we can't promise that Steam integration will be included. This is something we'd like to do though, so we'll be looking into this and we'll keep you updated on the plans.

We think this feature will help you preserve your favorite matches and record those one-in-a-lifetime-triple-kills-with-only-1-hp-left moments, and can help players looking to climb up the Leagues sharpen their game by analyzing their matches. It will also be absolutely awesome for tournaments, so you will be able to watch detailed replays of  the very best players at the top of their game!

I hope you're as excited for this feature as we are! If we can keep going at this rate, I think can definitely make it!

By the way, in case you missed it, don't forget to check out the new Cyber Coco skin that we announced yesterday! If you're a backer at the Bronze level, you can decide to switch to the Bronze Coco Tier to get this backer-exclusive skin instead of the Ghost Leon one. Your pick! If you backed our campaign at the Silver tier or higher, you'll actually be getting both of these! Backers who have used the Humble widgets on our website to back the campaign will also be able to upgrade, but should send an email to starstorm@ronimo-games.com about that. I'll be getting back to everybody who contacted us over there on Monday with more details on how this will work.

For now, have a great weekend, and we'll see you online!

Stay awesome!

Robin

Really glad the reply function is getting added. out of all the features to have in a game i think this was needed most. Keep up the Awesome...work

      @Ryan, not all of them.

@Joshua No offense, but that sounds like you could relly troll your skolldir who has a sliver of health left.0.o
I am very happy we reached this far,and frankly,I can live without replays. My life is complete. Also, the foxy naut should effectively have weak abilities from the beginning.Since she can upgrade her skills,it would make more sense and would make her a mix of classes. In the beginning she may be a support,middle-game she may be a brawler or assasin, and late-game she could be virtually impossible to kill. The trick is not to let her pull off a lot of damage to you.

I think we can make 380k

Support sounds good what bout an attack that stops team ganks on your teammates haha
or even a damage transfer, if one naut attacks then all friendly nauts within the radius of damage transfer take an equal proportion of that damage. If one nauts is under fire of a turret and 3 nauts are in te radius they all take 1/3rd the damage

More support needed....But, I don't think fox makes for a good support. An Assassin, yes.

Ryan I agree with you about the female attribute but not about the rhythm. if her power was reliant on the player attacking in rhythm then it must be reset after the rhythm is broken. I don't think it'd be practical as most players attack in a strafing way leaving you wit one maybe 2 attacks tops thus she's be at min base power. Besides that if I see an enemy the lat thing I think about is "one.... two ... attack ... one... two ... attack".

What role should she/he play? healer, defensive ... hopefully not brawler haha

I have two suggestions for the Fox 'Naut:
One, It should be female, as all the other 'Nauts in the Starstorm DLC are male.
Two: Maybe it could be rhythm based? For example, her basic attacks would be more powerful if she attacked in rhythm instead of normal. Then there would be a point of getting a killing spree, as her music would help you keep your attacks on the beat!
