We are Rome burns... so you don’t have to be...
Rome Burns are a lyrically rich 90s Goth and Alt-rock influenced band hailing originally from Cambridgeshire in the United Kingdom. Our sound is primarily post punk and new wave drawing in influences from bands as diverse as The Pixies, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division and Curve.
After releasing independently three albums and three E.P.s, performing up and down the length of the UK in small clubs, pubs and festivals (most notably two stints at Whitby Goth Weekend) our respective lives took precedence and we sadly called it a day in 2012.
Fast forward to 2017 and our then bassist Tori Pink ruminated on us performing again and thus the band returned. Performing initially in Leeds and oddly enough Vienna (alongside Jo Quail) we discussed the possibility of recording a new album, after all you can only perform the same songs for so long before the lure of fresh material becomes a strong factor.
Now in 2019 we want to produce our fourth album and make it the best that we can and this is where you come in. Every contribution both large and small will help us achieve our goal, anything over that target we will put into extra goodies and tiers.
We do not know how far this new path will take us, but we want to have (at the very least) one last fiddle as Rome Burns. That said if we are successful in our goal we would dearly love to build on this, performing and recording more as the muses demand.
About the album ‘ALL MONSTERS TO ANGELS’ (working title).
Over the past year or so, since we became active again, we have been busy crafting a dozen or so songs which explore various themes, most notably those of monsters, both real or imagined. The finished product will be at least ten (hopefully more) of our the best tracks, exploring modern and ancient mythology.
The studio has already been booked and we will be holed away in a field (jokingly named by ourselves as "the murder hole") in deepest darkest Newark in early September 2019. Michael Uwins (who mixed and produced our last two albums “Non Specific Ghost Stories” and “The Static Murmur”) will be returning to the helm ensuring that we perform to the best of our ability. Once complete we are looking to release the album in all its unfettered glory unto the world late November-early December (just in time for Christmas).
Where does the money go?
Rome Burns are an independent band. Whilst this means that we are not hindered creatively it also means that we invariably have to seek a source to fund the creation and distribution of own music. Much has changed over the past ten years and we see using Kickstarter as an opportunity to communicate our progress and to get our recorded output to our fans direct through both digital or physical means. The bulk of the costs are for Mike's time to produce, mix and master the album and the hire of the studio (£2,000) with the remainder being made up of media production costs for CDs and other goodies, artwork and fees.

The recording process is sadly an expensive one for a decent quality of output. Whilst we want to record and release an album this year we realise that this will take even longer without your support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
