A Bag of Tricks
After more than a decade with world music ensemble One Drum, I've managed to amass an interesting assortment of small percussion instruments, some of which I've been recording with lately. I'm also a big fan of found objects and unlikely combinations – ie. a metal screw pulled across a glass jar lid sounds similar to a güiro, an old computer case component struck with a stick sounds similar to a cowbell, and so forth.
Adding these myriad layers to the songs makes them sound a bit more interesting to me – listening to them with headphones reveals a surprise here and there.
I've also assembled a preliminary listening team - a select group of people whose ears I trust. They will provide much needed feedback during this process – since I've spent so much time with these songs, it's necessary for me to take a step back and get an objective view from others. If I missed someone, or if you'd care to be part of that process, just shoot me a message through Kickstarter with your email address, and I'll send you an invite to SoundCloud, where the listening team will have exclusive access to hear and comment on the tracks.
In other news, I've designed and ordered the sticker rewards! Yippee!
Again, thanks for your continued patience. You have helped make this happen, and I am working hard to finish this project, and get it into your waiting hands!
