- Learn dozens of modern mindfulness techniques
- Use them as physical reminders to be present and grounded
- All beautifully-designed and made with the best possible materials
- From the makers of buddhify, the popular meditation app
Packed with inspiration and practical exercises, Cards for Mindfulness is a set of beautifully-designed cards which bring awareness, calm and kindness to wherever you are. Each set comes with 48 cards which have an inspiring phrase or idea on one side and a more detailed exercise related to that phrase on the other.
The cards come in eight categories or styles: Awareness, Joy, Balance, Rest, Kindness In, Kindness Out, Curiosity and Insight. We have also included six blank cards so you can create your own.
The cards can be used in many ways. You can use them as a reminder to be present, placing them around your home or office. You can use them as in inspiration, choosing one a day or one a week as an exercise or intention. You can use them as the basis of your whole mindfulness practice.
Explore them all and find your favourites. Join them up to discover connections. Share them with friends. Have fun.
Despite so many people wanting to bring more mindfulness into their lives, there are two common problems. The first reason is that, with busy lives, it can be difficult to remember your good intention. The second is that it isn't always easy to find time for formal meditation practice.
We helped to solve the time problem by creating a successful app - buddhify - to help people meditate wherever they are. The most popular feature request from our users was some kind of notification system. But when we looked into it, we actually found was that phone notifications - even if they are inviting you to be calm and present - are just as likely to stress you out than actually achieve the wanted effect.
So we took all our experience in modern meditation, along with the idea of designing a gentle reminder system, and created Cards For Mindfulness. Throughout time, beautiful physical objects have been used to remind people to be present and this project is our addition to that long history.
Cards For Mindfulness is perfect for all levels. People who are new to mindfulness and meditation can discover easy techniques and ideas you can apply throughout your life and, for those people who already have a little experience, the cards contain fresh ideas and exercises which you can add to your mindfulness bank.
Cards for Mindfulness can be played in a way or variety of ways to suit your own personal lifestyle.
Everyday, people use mindfulness to deal with the pressures and challenges of their daily lives.
Mindfulness is the ability to know what is happening in your body and mind while it is happening. With its origins in meditation traditions thousands of years old, mindfulness is increasingly recognised as an incredibly important skill.
A growing scientific evidence base, both in psychology and neuroscience, is pointing to a wide range of benefits from mindfulness-based meditation. These include reduced stress and anxiety, increased concentration and compassion and a rise in the ability to deal with difficult situations.
Elite athletes are also using it to perform with composure in the most high-pressure of moments. Sufferers of chronic conditions are using it to change their relationship to pain. Household name companies provide classes for their employees to manage workplace stress and encourage focus and productivity. Clinicians prescribe it to help people with a history of depression avoid relapse.
Despite all its potential to support and transform, it can be difficult to remember to make it part of your life. That's where Cards For Mindfulness comes in.

We could have made Cards For Mindfulness in an anonymous country far away with inferior materials but quality and making things locally are important to us. We wanted to be able to touch the paper, to see the colours off the screen, and to feel the weight of them in our hands. That is why we used a fully local team and used the best possible materials.
The cards are printed on beautiful 350gsm Colorset Natural recycled card and the box is wrapped in 120gsm Colorset Natural recycled paper.
We went through several iterations of writing and design involving a full team of people.
Rohan wrote all the meditations.
Lucy conducted our user research into notifications and physical interaction.
Ryan led on graphic design of the cards and box.
Emmie made sure anything happened at all.
Chris made sure we spelt things correctly and were generally sensible.
Our friends at Allander managed all the printing and prototype sets.
And Nessie guarded our office in a way only she can.
Gordon Burniston for creating our video and very beautiful images http://www.burniston.com/
Keegan DeWitt for providing the perfect soundtrack to our video http://keegandewitt.com/
Lynne MacKenzie for general all-round social content wizardry and Ann Bryant for PR support.
Risks and challenges
We've spent a lot of time and money on all the design, writing and prototyping and the printers are ready to go. The main risk is therefore not making our Kickstarter target since without it we can't make a print run big enough to make it affordable for us as a tiny self-funded company.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
