CLOSING FOR RENOVATIONS!
After a whirlwind of messages, questions and requests about how to improve the game and make it even more appealing and amazing, I am cancelling this first campaign, re-building the game and will be hopefully returning in 2017! Thank you to everyone for your support, encouragement, advice and constructive feedback on this first attempt. Top Hats And Treachery will be coming back better, stronger and ready to wow you!

We hope that you enjoyed the Daily Rumours promo campaign on social media! (In case you wondered what the high-speed bit in the project video was!) They were fun to film, lots of people gave us great comments and we hope that it gave you a few smiles! Here's a little glimpse of the highlights, to help you understand more!
Here's a very quick (1 1/2 minute) video of How To Play!
Each turn, you play Rumour cards on Guests to raise and lower their reputation. Green (Positive) cards are played on your own guests and Red (Negatives) are played on other players' guests. The really sneaky and tactical part comes in playing the Yellow (Game-changers) and the White/Black (Grim Reapers) - do you bide your time or strike now? You need to time when you play cards and on whom (especially if you are playing the Simply Deadly rulest!) in order to have maximum effect!
As the game goes on, more and more ego-boosting and character defamation takes place and guests are killed off and replaced. Eg: Charles Dickens has gone bald, met the Queen, been chased by grave-robbers, broke both legs and is being followed everywhere by black cats! My goodness!
OUR EXCLUSIVE GUESTS :
The Upper Classes: Rich and Noble peers of the realm = posh and powerful, from the Gentry up to royalty! Basically: Better Than You. (At least, that's what they think!)
The Middle Classes: Professionals, Writers, Armed Forces and Agents of Wonder – the inventors, imagineers and up-and-comers of the Victorian Age.
The Lower Classes: Servants, Poor - even Criminals! The… well… lesser people. Hoping to climb the ladder of success... but not exactly your ideal clientele!
Rumour-Mongering: Don’t Believe Everything That You Hear!
Positive (Green): Success, glory, fame and fortune! (Play these on your own guests!) Things are on the way up for your Hotel!
Negative (Red): Scurrilous and wicked slander designed to dastardly discredit and ruin reputations! (Play these on other people's guests!)
Game-changers (Yellow): Extra guests, protection and counter-cards and strange twists of fate!
Choice (Green/Red): Either/or effects that give you more options to elevate or devastate!
Grim Reapers (White/Black): Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Nasty! Something terrible has happened to that guest. (Play these on other people's high-scoring guests or your low-scoring ones!) It also gives you the chance to be able to trade up and get a better Class of guest!

I just want you to be able to hold in your hands a copy of T.H.A.T. and play it with people whom you like, love or at least have just met on a train journey and need to find *some* intriguing way of passing the time!

Our first priority has been to enhance the quality of the finished game to represent the refinery of the Victorian Age. This means a linen finish, for added durability and prestige; to give your cards the elegance, longevity and décor that befits only the most-prestigious of Hotels!
If things go exceptionally well, we have plans (Oh, such plans!) for expansion packs and a whole lot of more dastardly goodness to make the game even more splendid!
Hello and welcome to the Hotel! I’m the Manager.
My name is Andrew Prowse. I’m a full-time primary school teacher who’s been designing games since 2003. I first created Top Hats And Treachery to teach my class of children all about the glorious, gory days of the Victorians and they responded brilliantly.
In the early days, we had up to 28 people playing at once, with one Guest card and two Rumours cards each. It was a beautiful, mad thing.
Seven years of tweaking, playtesting and umpteen nudges from family and friends later, here I am trying to persuade the world that telling stories about rich and poor Victorians (as well as quite a few familiar celebrity faces!) is a great way to pass half an hour! (Don’t worry – it really is!)
This has been four years in the making: two years of saving up for GENCON 2015 to talk to industry leaders about my games...
...then conventions and trips up and down the country (Re-Con, Royal Amouries, Pudsey, AireCon in Bradford, StabCon in Stockport, StrategyCon in Telford and more) to let people know about the company, endless designing and re-designing work, meeting and re-starting the design work with the fantastic and very hard-working Chris Cambell...
...a wild trip to Birmingham and the UK Games Expo...
...then gathering a following online of amazing folk who really want to see this game happen! Thank you all incredibly much for your support. This game wouldn’t be here without you all and I hope that you will have many fun-and-mayhem-filled times living out some truly memorable Victorian (mis-) adventures!

Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges: If the project successfully funds, the core game is all good to go and ready to print. The only extras will be the lucky, generous folk who have opted to put themselves in the game. We will work with them to come up with suitable photos, description, etc and finalise their cards, then the game will be good to go! Any additional stretch goals will be completed by myself and Chris as soon as the project is funded.
From there, we go to manufacturing with Trefl in Poland, who have an excellent reputation for quality and reliability.
We will be fulfilling with GamesQuest, who also have an excellent reputation and manage all aspects of product delivery.
We’re doing everything we can to get you the best possible game!
I’ve been very cautious on delivery dates, but I’m definitely following the motto of “Under-promise but over-deliver!” I’d rather make people happy with an early delivery than annoy them by being late.
Print and play will also be completed at this time, with all the extra content completed. I’ll be keeping everybody updated via Kickstarter, www.rogueartistcreations.com and www.facebook.com/rogueartistcreations
