YOU WANTED MORE - you said “More, Rodrigo Films! Vajazzle was despicable! Carry on!” Well, you've got it. ... Careful what you wish for.
Dropped Pie is the pulse-racing web-series follow-up to Vajazzle and you can help us make the pilot for it. This dark comedy takes our two unstoppable characters, Kitty and Charrlotte and throws them into a world of food and burlesque. What a combo! Charrlotte now runs a restaurant that has hit the big time. She's got a Michelin-starred Chef in the kitchen and a culinary sensation on the menu. Dropped Pie is the talk of the town. This masterful mix up of flavour, filo and fabulousness is not just pie. Roger Bellamy, the famous sherry-fuelled food critic who discovered it, has proclaimed it "Art" and crowned Charrlotte the queen of cuisine. And what Roger says goes. Now every fine diner in town is beating down the door of Charrlotte's establishment to get a piece of the good stuff.
Kitty, on the other hand, runs a French-themed gentlemen's club – Heavenly Burlesque - a place of feathers, fantasy, food and fun. A flash of flesh here and there, but as Kitty will tell you – this is no titty bar!
Sounds good, right? No. Something has gone bad between these BFFs. Not slap-your-face bad. We're talking hire-a-hitman bad. Did someone say 'hitman'?! Woah. Let's rewind six months and think this through.
The last time you saw Kitty, she rocked up in her bright orange mini to save Charrlotte from her ill-fated night of lasagna and vajazzling. How could a sisterly scene so sweet have turned so sour? That's what we had to find out.
We got a cutting edge journalist on the case. Mike, our out-of-work war correspondent, has followed the truth behind Dropped Pie and caught things on camera that have us cracking a cold sweat. This is scary stuff, people! So cruel, so cunning, so … crazy! The clip of Charrlotte in our teaser is the very latest recording that Mike managed to make. But he's not saying another word, or releasing another tape, until we cough up some dough. Fair enough... we haven't paid him since this began and he has expensive habits.
We need need equipment... editors... hackers... and trackers. We need backing to bring you this story as it breaks! - Money to make people talk. Money to make them shut up! Heck we’re probably going to need spy gear and bullet proof vests the way things are going. We’ve tried banks, loan sharks, the lottery - but our expose is just too hoy for those yellow-bellied babies. They won't give us a dime until they've seen something on the screen. That's where YOU come in! We need just enough to complete a pilot that can them offer a taste. Once they’ve seen this bad boy, they’ll know this pie is cookin’. And it’s hot!
Don't think for a second that we would expect you to part with your hard-earned cash without recompense. We have designed a range of fine delights to titillate your senses and loosen the cold-steel grip around your wallet.
Our complete smorgasboard of delights is listed on the right, but here are the highlights!
1. The actual poster of Charrlotte and Dave from the set of Vajazzle! This really is one-of-a-kind (seriously, we only have one!).
You can see it gracing the rear wall as Dave unwittingly commits himself to a path of no return.
2. As if that wasn't enough (it's not!) Charrlotte has approached us with some business opportunities for all you forward-thinking tycoons of tomorrow (and even today, perhaps?). We are selling the naming rights for Charrlotte's restaurant for Season 1 of Dropped Pie. We can't promise that this will make it into the pilot, but we can guarantee that you will get exposure. Oh boy, you will get exposure!
3. Not to mince words, but Charrlotte will do just that! 30 words of your choosing. That's just crazy! What on earth will you come up with to put in her mouth?
4. And for lovers of art, satire, the environment, humane treatment of refugees, government accountability and transparency... we present, from Charrlotte's personal collection, the first triptych in the #insultallthepresidents series. Beautifully printed on fancy paper, limited edition, numbered prints, these are for the serious collectors out there.
5. And for the lovers of black comedy and the stars who bring it to life, official Dropped Pie series postcards - available in both signed and unsigned editions.
Help us. Help us help you. Let us help you help us.
For those of you who haven't had the chance to enjoy our last short film, it's not too late. Goodness, we'll do one better than that! We'll embed it right here for your viewing delight! Now if you want to see the Dropped Pie pilot the second it is released, we must ask you one favour - Subscribe to our Rodrigo Films Youtube channel. Bean-counters watch subscriber numbers, and the more of you that raise your hands, the closer we will be to bringing this baby to life!
Risks and challenges
Risks! Challenges! Yes, life if full of them, and this project is no different. Remember, we're only raising money to make a PILOT for a web-series! We're not raising money to make the whole series. Oh no, we'd need much more than what we're asking for here. The biggest risk: we'll end up making something that is just not funny. That would really be terrible. But we've been heartily beavering away for over a year on this idea and we're pretty sure that we can give you what you're after (at least, if you've already seen and loved Vajazzle, that is). We don't forsee any great risks in actually making the pilot other than a bloody fallout between cast members that leaves a nasty trail of hospital and attorney fees to deal with. But they've all assured us they'll be on their best behaviour. We have already committed considerable resources and this final helping hand will just push us over the edge, enabling us to bring the dream to life. Our rewards are carefully considered and prepared in advance so the biggest challenge there will be getting them through the rapidly deteriorating global patchwork of snail mail providers. Yes, we're good to go! Take a chance on us! We'll absolutely hate ourselves if we disappoint you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
