Tales Of Fractured Worlds is the second book by Fracture Press and the second book of stories by Roddy McCance. It continues on the idea of 'socially conscious comics' that started with our first book - Tales Of The Fractured Mind. The anthology will feature 80-90 pages in sequential art, with pin ups and bonus content making the book over 100 pages! (hence the large goal!) I want to create work that says something and means something. All the stories here are from my heart. Tales Of Fractured Worlds has a message. It's a message about the world we live in and at its core, it's a graphic novel about human stories. Thanks for reading and if you look at this page, think about the comic or back it, truly, thank you. Every backer will also get their name in the book with a special credits sequence!
Tales Of Fractured Worlds is an anthology of science fiction tales that focuses on human stories with a backdrop of ecological, environmental and social issues. Part speculative fiction, part retro anthology - TOFW continues on the idea of 'socially conscious comics' that developed in our first book, Tales Of The Fractured Mind. TOTFM was an anthology dedicated to mental health and promoting awareness and all our books will be stories with heart, meaning and a message.
Tales Of Fractured Worlds features stories about the environment, indigenous people, global warming, consumerism and globalization. We hope these stories ring true - art is the start of changing the world. Science fiction can tell the stories that people don't want to face up to. Sometimes the world is so dark, we need an escape. However, what if that escape could change your mind on something, or show you a side of life that you might not have seen or understood before.
About Roddy McCance
I have worked on a lot of comics over the past year, building up my reputation as a creator. I've worked on books for Markosia, Future Quake Press, Swamp Line Comics and Gray Haven Press, as well as independent anthologies like Spiders & Stardust: A Tribute To David Bowie and Kayfabe: A Wrestling Anthology. Of course, the reason I'm here though, is my last Kickstarter Tales Of The Fractured Mind.
How Will Your Pledge Be Used?
Your pledge will go towards the costs of paying artists (something integral to us here at Fracture Press) and that will be about 1/2 of the funds. We have artists involved and ready to go. The rest of the funding will go towards the printing costs, the merchandising and the Kickstarter fee.
£1400 - Paying Artists to complete the rest of their work.

Tales Of Fractured Worlds features over ten artists from across the globe. We are certainly not a Fractured Team! I'm really proud of the team we've put together and I can't wait for you to see what they do.
Tales Of Fractured Worlds features the talents of so many amazing artists - Here is a small selection of who is on board. Links and artist features to come during the campaign! There are some spaces left, but they will be announced during the Kickstarter!
3. Memory Share - Art (Alicia Warhola) / Cover (Una Dunphy) - Memory Share is perhaps the most Black Mirror-esque tale of them all. It's the bleakest, but perhaps the most poignant story. With nothing to lose a man joins a new social network site that lets you upload 15 second memories, but little does he know the experiment soon has disastrous consequences. As you can tell this one is about the horror or technology and our reliance on social media and how we give so much of ourselves away online.
Risks and challenges
This is my second Kickstarter project and I feel confident, all I want to do is to make comics. I think everyone launching a project on Kickstarter has a little fear. Things are a little different this time around. I've got a successful Kickstarter under my belt (in Tales Of The Fractured Mind) which earned almost 3 times it's goal and was funded in just 13 hours. So that should give you trust that I can deliver a project. The entirety of the money we earn for Tales Of Fractured Worlds will be going to paying artists, printing the book and funding the other rewards. Our goal is £3000.
It's slightly different to Fractured Mind as most of Tales Of The Fractured Mind was complete, whereas Tales Of Fractured Worlds is roughly 40% complete, so I'm asking for a bit more investment and trust on me and the book from backers. Everyone has been paid for their work so far. The majority of the art team is lined up, it's just a matter of paying them and putting them to work once it's funded so we're ready to go, we just need you to help make the book happen.
Every project has risks, challenges and creative roadblocks, but I feel we've been conservative with how much money we're asking for, even though it's a sizeable jump from our target last time. However Fractured Worlds is a much larger project and the goal reflects that. It's not just two people, it's me and a series of other artists coming together to create this piece of art, which I can't wait to share with you. Hopefully all our fanbases' combine to fund Tales Of Fractured Worlds. I've been open and honest with the project as you can see on our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/FracturePress).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
