RocketBody’s origin story begins in Minsk, Belarus. Ten years ago the founder, Tim Lipsky, was a professional athlete who was sidelined by a spinal and knee injury. Suddenly his goals shifted from intense training to just getting himself out of bed. Fast forward to today and Tim is training as hard as he did before — you would never know he had been injured. His success is due to spending the past decade investigating and testing how the human body can be as effective as possible.
In early 2016, Tim was working on a hypothesis with the help of his network of medicine and sports specialists. When Paul Bulai—a biophysicist, neuroscientiest, and associate professor at Belarusian State University—joined the project, they made a breakthrough. They achieved positive results in researching EKG signal processing and clearing up, and proved that metabolic rate and supercompensation evaluation could be achieved through EKG taken from Lead 1.
(Just to clarify: For medical purposes such as heart disease diagnostics, all 12 leads are needed. But for the purpose of RocketBody--tracking metabolism, HR, and HRV--Lead 1 provides all the data needed for complete accuracy).
In early 2017 Eugene Zolotariov joined the project as a COO and Partner. The team grew to 12 people, engaging sports medicine physicians and senior hardware and software engineers. This is when real prototype development kicked-off.
Over the next several months, we perfected our EKG signal, two patent applications were submitted, we uploaded the first version of the RocketBody app to the App Store, and we began partnering with professional speed skating athletes and the biathlon federation.
Late 2017 – we raised our pre-seed investment round with company valuation at $1 million USD.
January 2018 – the fully functioning RocketBody prototype was released and we started collecting data from people for our Artificial Intelligence engine.
Next we incorporated our US entity and participated in numerous industry events, like Wolves Summit in Warsaw, Poland.

After we finish taking pre-orders on Kickstarter, we will make the final preparations for serial production. This only concerns final industrial design and some of the latest and most advanced components for the wearable, and will bring it to production in September.
Some of our team members are in US already, and Tim, Eugene and a few others are also moving to the Bay area in June. We’re looking forward to arranging a meeting with backers living in US who would like to come meet us in person and talk more about the future of our product!

Risks and challenges
From day one we’ve worked extremely hard to make sure our designs are created from first principles, ready for mass production.
Building physical products has certain risks and challenges associated with manufacturing and the supply chain logistics. We’ve made sure to minimize the risk of unexpected issues that may arise in these areas by making it a strict criterion to only work with tier-one manufacturers. Despite all our strategic contingencies, there’s always a chance of issues affecting timelines.
We foresee that delays may arise from the following:
Testing & Certifications: we’ve selected the world’s leading testing, quality assurance and certification company to help us bring to you a high-quality product. We’re committed to our philosophy of design, make and test. Delays may arise if our testing partners believe we can go the extra mile and set a gold standard.
Component shortages: Shortages in supply or unexpected issues in delivery to our manufacturers may result in delays. That’s why our component selection strategy has always factored in the ability to source mechanical and electronic components from reputable suppliers at a mass quantity from multiple sources.
