Update to MSRP: Our MSRP is actually $35 after component upgrades
The game itself is for two (or three) players who draft and build decks hoping to build up a super powered robot to blast apart their opponent's robot. Once you blow off all 4 "limbs" (head, left arm, right arm, legs) of the opposing robot, you win the game. A unique stacking mechanic allows you to play cards right on top of your robot to make it stronger. Attacks and defenses are determined by die rolls. Rule variations support a variety of ways to play, including: Ultimate Robot- a simple game mode for simpler shorter games, Tournament Rules for cut-throat players, and challenge modes for unique twists on game play. Check out our in-depth game play video below.

Where we are now:
In the last 12 months the Hidden Ladder Collective has finished the artwork, the layouts, the game text, back stories, website, social media presence, and the business model. In the last ten years we have invested over 3000 hours in playtesting, spent over 300 hours creating the artwork, and invested around $2500 (website, copies, prototype, promotion kits, events, and other general items).
What we need the funds for:
AdMagic has agreed to print our product for around $20,000 (printing cost varies by $2000 due to die cutting/full bleed special modifications, components and packaging specifications- Quote updated 11/15/14). AdMagic printed our prototypes which we were very impressed with and have used in over 250 games. The only way we can print the games for this excellent price is if we can raise the money to print 5000 copies in bulk. Printing 4 prototype copies for the Kickstarter video cost us over $60 each (as seen in the photos above). We also need additional funds to pay a graphic designer ($1000), videographer ($1600) to produce 12 game play videos to assist the rule book, editor ($1000) to help us create the box art and the rule book (artwork and text is complete) and ($800) for shipping costs. The project goal also reflects the 10% fees that go to kickstarter/ taxes.
The quote from Ad Magic includes the following:
-Qty:5000 -113 cards per deck - custom backs and custom faces -Standard poker sized cards -Rectangle cut out in the middle of the cards
-Box with lift off lid
-Rule sheet - 8.5 x 11 - folded
-Control Panel (cardboard cheat sheet for keywords, rules and scorekeeping)
- 12 8mm mini-die (assorted colors)
-1 twenty-sided die

The idea was invented by William Hessian during a time when Pokemon and sci-fi anime were exploding in the united states. William spent the a decade in Minnesota and North Dakota doing illustrations, drawing prototype cards and testing gameplay with friends and students, trying to create the game he always wanted to play. For the game, William created over 120 original works of art and did all the graphic designs on the cards. John "Sighless" Supinski, a multi-talented musician and songwriter, became the co-owner of the project in late 2012 (won over a roll of the dice) and began creating new characters, writing back stories, creating a business model and helping to playtest and perfect the rules.
The current playtesters consists of a dozen artists and musicians and gamers who are all part of a collective called The Hidden Ladder Collective from Portland Maine. Abbeth Russell and Kara Oster are the lead playtesters, editors and organizers on the project. Notable contributions to the game have been made by Fernando Diaz, Pierce Kehlenbeck, Luke Sekera, Patrick Russell, Scott Hessian, Patrick Reese, and Seth Dussault.

We have big plans for our game if we succeed.

Risks and challenges
Shipping times, printing costs and production times could be a challenge. We have a back up printing company on stand by and we also have some friends who will help us if these issues do arise. If our stretch goals are met there may be slight delay to create new custom components, which might need to shipped separately if there would be a large delay.
Shipping to the European Union will be our first attempt to network overseas and we will be learning as we go, but we have met great people with a ton of knowledge so far (we ask a TON of questions), and really hope we will not have any issues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
