About this project
What We Want to Create:
We want to host a webinar to introduce and teach people about our new open-source software platform, RoboKind SDK. The free software is available for download at www.robokind.org and further specs are available at www.cogchar.org. The webinar will take place in December and likely last about 4 hours. We will also be accessible for questions and suggestions during that time.
It will be the first in a series of live webinars hosted by the RoboKind software team. We will introduce developers to Robokind's platform and teach you how to easily integrate other projects into the RoboKind framework.
We want to build an excited, open community of people who can help each other use robots in new and innovative ways!
The Software We Will Be Teaching You About:
Hanson RoboKind has developed a user-friendly, open-source software platform that can be used to animate your robots or avatars. You’ll be amazed at how easily you can create an intelligent friend who will interact with you virtually or physically!
The Hanson RoboKind Platform provides a feature-rich framework to support your robots, avatars, and client applications. This includes secure distributed messaging, text-to-speech, speech recognition, vision, and more.
Download the free, open-source software at http://www.robokind.org/
Read detailed specs at http://www.cogchar.org/
What Do You Need to Know?
The code is java-based but can work well with other languages such as C++, C# and more.
Why Should You Help Us Even If You're Not a Developer?
This software has to potential to make your computers and consumer robotics friendlier, smarter and more socially interactive. By helping us teach developers how to use it, you will further research in many significant areas and in fun, consumer venues too! You will also be supporting the open-source community.
Who are we?
Hanson RoboKind has developed some of the most advanced, lifelike robots in the world. With high-definition cameras, numerous sensors, software API, Maxon motors, and a powerful embedded computer, RoboKind robots are perfect for RoboCup, robotics, and psychology research. We hope to be bringing you a consumer version of our robot in 2013.
In order to make the most of our robots, and the robotics community in general, we want to make our software as amazing as the hardware. By sharing it with you we will be able to do some amazing things together!
Where Will Your Money Go?
Your funding will help us buy hosting for the webinar. It will allow us to develop a curriculum and acquire the necessary materials needed to enact the webinar as well as cover costs on the day of.
