In this episode, lead artist William Hennes speaks just a bit about analog based practical FX, their resurgence in filmmaking and their place in the digital world of today, particularly in the world of games. A little appreciated fact: Actors are a form of practical FX.

We have introduced two new pledge levels.

  • Model Maker at the $150 includes a limited edition, 4" (approx) tall cast resin model kit of the Stauf Mansion. Some assembly required.
  • Supervisor at the $400 level includes a limited edition, 9" (approx) tall cast resin model kit of the Stauf Mansion. Some assembly required. Have fun painting it yourself, or add $50 for a hand painted model.
Sphinx board not included. That will be a separate reward.

Also, if the game is funded, we'll have an online store on our website where people can continue to pledge for the same tiers and rewards as are on the Kickstarter page well as buy any extra add-ons at that time.

Good question Patrick. I would assume so. But only one $50 payment at whatever level at or above the Supervisor level. As I understand it, you manage your pledge and at the end of the campaign a survey is sent to backers to find out on what they want their extra pledge money spent.

@Rob: sorry, I meant 'hand-painting' of the model house; does the pre-painted version require an extra $50 at higher tiers as well? :)

We are staying true to the originals while trying to bring fresh new fun ideas. But certainly not so new and fresh as to require anything that might be considered twitch game action.

Patrick, $350 and higher include haunted portrait of Stauf.

Sphinx board being designed now. Gotta figure out cost of production so as to know at what level to add it.

I don't know what they're planning, but the puzzles in t7g and 11h were always wits-based puzzles, never anything to do with reflexes or speed, so I'm assuming (and hoping, frankly) that they have no intention of changing that. That sort of thing has always worked better in console gaming anyway; I think that reflex-based push-the-buttons-quickly gaming would translate to desktop and tablet gaming about as awkwardly as point-and-click gaming translates to console gaming.

not at all relevant to the update, but as a physically disabled gamer, i would like to ask that any possible quicktime/reflex/press the button as many times as you can as fast as you can segments be able to be bypassed. no one ever thinks about the player literally not being able to do something and it has ruined a lot of games for me. thanks

      Two quickie questions:

      1) do tiers above $400 already include painting, or should one always add $50 for that?

      2) when/how/where that awesome Sphinx board?? :)
