Professional keytarist and cult internet icon, Brett Domino, has been making music for over eight years with his friend, colleague and renowned keyboard percussionist, Steven Peavis. Together (as 'The Brett Domino Trio') we've appeared on television and computer screens across the globe; created countless viral videos; scored a Top 40 hit; and accrued a huge and loyal fan base.
Anyway... Now, the time has come for us to unleash upon the world our crowning glory. Our pièce de résistance. Our magnum opus. Our plat du jour.
..."But haven't you already released two highly-acclaimed, top-selling albums"?
Yes we have. But they were simply collections of novelty cover songs that we had previously recorded for our YouTube channel.
This will be a fully-realised conglomeration of all-original pop songs. A piece of work that will sit comfortably in your music collection alongside the likes of Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake. (Or David Bowie and Chris Brown, depending on if you alphabetise your library).
That's right. Making an album is a time-consuming and relatively expensive venture. As such, we're looking to you to help make it happen:
(Unfortunately, the minimum Kickstarter pledge is £1... But - similarly - we'd only need 6% of our subscribers to give a pound for us to hit the target).
A big chunk of the cash would go towards enabling us to take the time off to write / record / produce the songs. As previously mentioned, it's a fairly long process - and without financial support, we just wouldn't be able to devote enough time to the project.
There are, of course, other costs involved in the making of an album... These include potential studio hire, mastering, digital distribution, marketing, any music video costs, etc.
FYI: At the minute, this would be a digital release only. In the event that we surpass the funding goal, we might look into a limited run of CDs / vinyl.
We're keen for all backers to be involved throughout the whole process. If you have any questions, please get in touch and we'll do our best to answer them through this Kickstarter page.
Risks and challenges
It's difficult to predict what problems we might encounter once we get started - it should hopefully be relatively straightforward. Brett has been writing and producing songs for fifteen years, so it's not as though we'll be jumping in at the deep end...
We know it's a big thing to ask you to invest in something that doesn't even exist yet, but we hope you will trust us to produce something that we can all be proud to say we contributed to.
One fairly major element that we can't really speculate on is just how long it would take. At the minute, we've set a 'delivery date' of August 2016 - but this is in no way set in stone. Obviously, we would aim to have the finished product ready as close to this time as possible, but we may find that the writing process takes a little longer than expected - or we might even be done by June, who knows! We will of course keep you all posted throughout.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
