The Artist Proof itself is printed on 14" x 20" paper (the final prints are trimmed down to 13" x 19"). The wider border makes it easy to make notations in the border for the printer in case there's a need for any adjustments, etc.
So, I pull the first 20 prints off the press run and keep those separate from the rest, and they are never trimmed. That makes it easy to sign, number, date and include the A/P mark signifying it as an Artist's Proof.
Each 14" x 20" Artist's Proof is mounted on an acid-free, archival-quality black matte board, and acid-free foam core backing. Then it's mounted in a handcrafted 18" x 24" wood frame, with premium archival, UV protective acrylic. The frame is finished in black with natural graining, distress marks and random knot holes. Made from genuine pine, this frame is distinguished. The modern and wide profile provides a striking framework for fine art and photography, and is perfect for the colorful artwork of the national park posters.
