Gamepad/Linux/iOS Support & Pledge Limit Increases

Hey everyone, we updated the FAQ on Gamepad, iOS, and Linux support. 

Gamepad Support

We're aiming for the game to be as close as possible to the 16-bit/32-bit console experience, so we're definitely testing out and making sure all the kinks are ironed in order to have full controller support. We'll be updating all this information as the project goes along.

Linux Support

We see Linux support being very doable in the near future, but we can't yet confirm it. Once we find that it's 100% possible to do so, we will announce it! :)

iOS Support

We have no confirmed plan for an iOS port just yet. Though if we get funded beyond $150,000 we can get to working on a port. The main reason is that we would have to fine-tune the gameplay for touch-based controls, which would take a bit of time to make perfect, as we feel touch-based ports of controller-based gameplay is usually dumbed down. Also, further development costs for getting on iOS itself. If we would do iOS, we want to make it with the same quality as the PC/Mac version.

Limit Increases

Also, we initially allotted for a lower count on the $250 Master Cryatist Pledge, so that has been extended to 100. Also, we have added 5 more Egotist's Pledges for getting yourself or your OC as an NPC in the game. 

We don't want to go too far beyond what we planned to have in the game, but we figured that we could throw a few more special people in there. :) For those who are asking, your NPC will have multiple lines of dialogue (that you reasonably choose) that changes throughout the story, not just an "I'm here and this is my name" kinda thing. So they will be a part of the full experience.

      If it does meet/surpass the stretch goal for iOS, would the iOS port be released around/near the same time as the PC version (Mar 2014) or much later after?

      Hey guys! I'm a backer and I'll be happy to play this on my Mac, but I'd love to see it on iOS too... have you considered, instead of touchscreen controls, making it work with something like this?

      Glad to see that the cameo's get multiple lines of dialogue.

      Also big congrates, I mean, you are already at 81% and it has been barely two day's. If you keep this up, you will easily make all of your stretch goals.

      When we say Android+OUYA, that means making it available for OUYA as Android is required to make it accessible on there. That includes afterwards, fine-tuning for touch-based controls on Android as well. So that's bundled with the iOS support, yup.

      So at the $150K stretch goal you are doing Android + Ouya support.

      I took that to mean touch controls would work for the Android version.

      Will there be a version for Android phones if the $150K stretch goal is met? just wanted to clarify based off the IOS comments in this update.

      Really looking forward to playing this on my SGS3 :)

      @Ryan: If you check at our preview list of stretch goals on the main page, OUYA is there, so it's really contingent on if people want it enough. *hint hint* We know we do. :)

      awesome I always love the option of using a gamepad over keyboard and mouse. Also, have you guys been looking at other platforms like the OUYA and GAME STICK?
