Hi I'm Ben, the creator of Propose a Roast. Not only do I love playing games, I'm also a big fan of insult humor. We all have to be able to laugh at ourselves once in a while, and that's what Roasts are made for! Most people know a Roast as just hurling an insult at somebody for the sake of being mean. But getting Roasted is an honor. A Roast can sometimes be about serious insults; but it's also about being surrounded by friends, well wishers, and loved ones who can have fun joking about themselves and others! I created Propose a Roast to bring that kind of Roasting experience to everyone's tabletops!
Propose a Roast has been through an incredible journey: from it's conception at a birthday party, to being playtested for 100+ hours on a college campus, to winning big in a competition. Check out some testimonials and video game beta footage under Our Story past the rewards section!

Where it all began
I first got the idea for Propose a Roast at my Grandfather's birthday party in February 2018.
During the party we were all seated at the dinner table and my Aunt stood up with a glass in
her hand. We assumed she was going to toast Grandpa. Instead she spent a full 2 minutes
roasting him! We were all silent for a bit until Grandpa exploded with laughter and
so did the rest of the family. It was such a wonderful experience that Mom joined in, my
Cousins joined in, I joined in! Having some lighthearted fun at someone's expense from the
ones you care about is a fun and hilarious experience, and I was determined to gameify it.
I continued to develop the rules and Roast Cards over the 2018 summer leading into my
senior year of college at The College of New Jersey. It was time to playtest Propose a Roast.
I printed 200 Roast Cards, instructions, and got tons of pencils. I began playtesting with
my friends, friends of my friends, their families, and offered free food to random students to
playtest Propose a Roast. After about 5 months and 100+ hours of Playtesting I was
confident that Propose a Roast was perfected and innovative. The key innovation points
incorporated into Propose a Roast are:
High replay value: With player generated responses and Roast Cards being applied to different players, Propose a Roast gives you the most entertainment per dollar spent, each Roast Card merits a unique response for the individual being Roasted, and different players at the table means different scenarios and responses.
No explicit content: Propose a Roast has 200 Roast Cards and none of them have explicit content on them (except for the adult expansion pack sold seperatly) this widens the range of people you can play with without it becoming awkward. Control the tone used for your Roasting experience with your own responses, your responses can be anything but kind!
Reusable: With player submitted responses, we decided to use dry erase materials so players wont have to hunt around for pieces of paper and extra playing materials. Not using paper means less trash generated when you play.
Play with anyone: Propose a Roast is loads of fun whether you're playing with people you know, or who you're meeting for the first time. Feel free to be creative with inside jokes people you know, and get creative with people who you are meeting. Discover people's style of humor, or share hilarious inside jokes with other players to become closer with them.

The video game
Propose a Roast is so fun on tabletop that I decided that it would be great online
as a video game too! I brought on my friend Thomas Holland (not spiderman) to assist in
developing the video game version. On the video game version, I'm bringing the Roast
to the livestreaming environment. My goal is to have content creators and streamers
connect with their fans and subscribers via the roast. Viewers will be able to submit
Roastworthy responses directly from chat to the game for the live streamer to directly

I entered Propose a Roast into my college's business plan competition: The Mayo Business
Plan Competition where we faced about 60 other business plans. I made the first prototype
of Propose a Roast and presented it to the esteemed judges. I even Roasted a professional
judge during the semi final round and they had such a great itme that they advanced my
team to the finals! Propose a Roast was lauded as a "uniquely innovative and fun game" on
stage in front of a hundred spectators.
Thanks for stopping by, check out our full list of rewards and bring the roast to your tabletop! Have fun laughing at others and yourself. As Spongebob says:
Risks and challenges
Propose a Roast has been playtested, prototyped, and perfected as a game.
To ensure the best productions and fulfillment, I'll be using the best in the business. I'll be using AdMagic, the leading manufacturer of board/card games to manufacture Propose a Roast, and I'll be using Amazon FBA fullfillment service for fulfillment.
The video game is being developed in house by my teammate Thomas Holland, and the risk and challenge associated with this is potential delays in development due to design pivots.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
