$60k stretch goal change & Video update #2 - Crafting

This week has been fantastic! We reached our goal, vehicles are confirmed, and the player skill system is right around the corner.

Due to the response on the forums and the impending $50k stretch goal being reached I thought I would share with you the new stretch goal replacing physical goods.

$60k stretch goal: Character customization! At the beginning of the game players will customize the appearance of their character. The list of customizable assets include (but not limited to) bandanas, shirts, sweaters, jeans, sweatpants, and shoes/boots. 

--PLEDGE UPDATE (the $60k pledge goal must be reached for the following to take effect)--

With the announcement of character customization we are also announcing Kickstarter only cosmetic packs! These are chosen at the beginning of the game in the character customization screen. These packs hold no stats and are strictly cosmetic

$15 - Lone survivor - Backers of this pledge amount will receive an in game redeemable code to unlock the Cowboy pack (flannel shirt, blue jeans, cowboy boots, etc). Yeehaw!

$30 - Not so lone survivor - Backers of this pledge amount will receive an in game redeemable code to unlock the Biker pack (leather jacket, leather boots, leather chaps, etc). Strap on your leather boots and hop on your hog! Includes the cowboy pack.

$55 - Search party (100 more slots available!) - Backers of this pledge amount will receive an in game redeemable code to unlock the Military pack (camouflage pants, shirts, combat boots, etc). Get your camo on! This tier includes all the previous mentioned cosmetic packs

$75 - Graffiti artist - Backers of this pledge amount will receive an in game redeemable code to unlock the Urban pack (saggy pants, chains, beanie, etc). Let your pants hang low! This includes all the previous mentioned cosmetic packs!

$125 - Advertising agent - Backers of this pledge amount will receive an in game redeemable code to unlock the Business pack (suits, ties, etc.). Survive in style! This includes all the previous mentioned cosmetic packs!

All pledges higher than "Advertising agent" will receive all previous mentioned cosmetic packs!

The design behind ROAM is a combination of a couple documents that have been passed around a close group of friends for a couple years. The game was originally designed to be hamsters(yes its true) and then later updated towards a pixel zombie shooter. It was decided that we go 3D because we needed to be more flexible with the system we are developing. We have attached some concept art to this update.

      Looking great, guys! That pixel art is amusing (especially hamsters!) but I definitely appreciate the 3D style now.

      The building mechanic sounds well thought out and I definitely like the sound of the simplified material collection.

      I'm completely okay with skipping the physical goods rewards. I have so many T-shirts it's disgusting! I like the sound of the Kickstarter character customization packs, too. Any chance of adding something like a tanker helmet to the higher tiers? Something like: http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/4268/312li.jpg

      Would have highly perfered content over clothes for the game.I relize its easier to make clothes but it just doesnt change anything for me. hopefully the 70k goal will be something to do with gameplay or size of the game.

      Gender, weight, and skin color have been added to the list of customizable options on the main page. I dont know how they slipped my mind.

      There will be absolutely no item shop. No micro transactions. We do plan to have promotional events as the game goes on to acquire new/different packs though!

      Will there be a system in place to produce your own ammo, tools, weapons, food etc... such as mining, farming and reserch... not just scavenge?

      God you guys hve finally made the game I've dreamed of. An actual zombie survival game that isn't some bullshit browser game where building something tkes 2 days, 3 hours, 42 minutes.
      I love you guys, I love you guys so so much.
      Hell, those test demos you where playing look hella fun in themselves. I'd totally be happy with getting that now.

      Will the mentioned character customizations be" kickstarter only", or will we be able to unlock some of them during the game?

      Don't even think of an ingame item shop.
      I dare you, I double dare you. :D

      Dear guys. Please mail me the tech demo, I don't care if it's buggy or that I have to launch it from some crazy script or it infects my computer with a zombie virus. You know you want to. :)

      Stealth - Yes.

      It's our goal to implement the features so that the player has the freedom to play how they want. The main kickstarter video shows a lot of gun combat. That's mostly because we don't have the melee system implemented yet. In the future, as the development progresses, we will release video updates highlighting other areas of gameplay including stealth.

      But, if you still wanted to go on a mindless zombie hunting trip... you could!

      You said supply runs, and it makes wonder, will you be able to stealth around collecting stuff? or will it be the regular - mindless zombie hunting trip?

      The video makes my happy that I went for the four pack. Now to figure out how to get all four of us away from our families at the same time to play this.

      HOORAY, character customization! Just what I was hoping for! I hope the variable options include hairstyles, skin tones and body types? Chubby black chicks with mohawks like zombie games, too. :)
