At the close of three weeks of fundraising, “Celebrity: The Meltdown Monologues” received an impressive total of $2,435 in pledges from thirty backers!
Although this means we did not raise our goal amount ($15,000 USD) and therefore won’t be able to bring the show to the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we’re thrilled with how much progress we made, and truly thank you for your support. The team is already looking at ways to develop the piece over the next year and get it ready to go for 2012.
The process of running this fundraising campaign has enabled strong creative partnerships and a focused vision for the “Monologues” as they take shape. The extra time between now and 2012’s Fringe will allow us to further sharpen the creative vision of the show – as well as keep it up to date with any new meltdowns that take place in the coming months! (Follow the show feed on Twitter to keep informed about developing stories!)
Thanks to Kickstarter’s funding system, your pledge has been cancelled and your credit card will not be charged your pledge amount – but with your permission, we’d like to get back in touch when we enter our fundraising round next year!
Over the next few months, the production team will explore the potential of this idea more fully, including the development of a complete script. Finally, thank you once more for your generous support and belief in the show. Our examination of celebrity-obsessed culture has come a long way in the last three weeks, and that is largely due to your willingness to support this show and its team.
With heartfelt gratitude,
