We are a group of six freshman film students at Loyola Marymount University. When our film department told us we would have to wait until our junior year to rent out equipment, use the facilities, and thus complete a film, we decided we didn't want to wait that long.

One of our own has written a touching screenplay that we and many others have fallen in love with. We have enlisted the help of several professional actors who have agreed to work for free in the interest of getting this project made.

We completed pre-production two weeks ago, which took several months. We've just finished production, which consisted of five 9-plus-hour filming days, and we have several weeks of post-production ahead of us. We've tried to keep costs to a minimum because all the expenses are coming out of our pockets, and being full-time students, that resource is very limited. But despite our attempts to spend as little as possible, we have incurred several expenses through basic permit fees and gas reimbursement for the actors. Overall, our costs have reached over $750 - a challenge for any full-time student to afford, but a remarkably low budget for this project. Any donations over the $750 goal will be well spent on much-needed equipment or rolled into the budget for our next project.

We all believe in the importance of telling this story, and in the process, honing our skills. By receiving funding through Kickstarter, we will at least make sure this project is not a money-losing endeavor. In this way, we hope to have other such projects in our future. Without funding, it could be years before we can recoup our losses.

Getting involved in such an undertaking at our age is truly unheard of and we hope you'll realize our gratitude and the value of supporting up-and-coming film students who just need to get a project off the ground.

We intend to enter the final cut in film festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, Seattle Intl. Film Festival, Toronto Intl. Film Festival, and others. Based on the skill of our actors, our cinematography and directing experience, and the beauty of the story, we think we have a very good chance at many of these venues.

Thank you again for your time, and any contribution - however small - is hugely appreciated.
