A BIT ABOUT US
The idea behind a beautiful liturgy comes from years of local church ministry by members Emilie and Rich–a unique daughter-father worship leading team. Rich has been a worship leader and pastor in various churches, from small churches to large mega-churches, and last released a musical project in 2012. Emilie was 13 years old when she debuted as a co-worship leader in front of hundreds. She graduated from Full Sail University this year in graphic design and has two musical projects to her credit. Rich and Emilie are honored to lead worship at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in San Clemente, CA.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
We desire to write from our local expression of worship and write beautiful liturgy. With this, there is a lot of talk about multigenerational worship and music. As a music group, we would rather create than pontificate. What if congregational worship music can reach to past and be birthed in the present? What if liturgy, once common in most denominations, was expressed in a modern voice but respectful of tradition? What if biblical, theological considerations are married to artistry and beauty?
ABOUT THE MUSIC
This 5-song project is a group of songs that we wrote together, so they are all original. You have a seasoned church musician and a young singer-songwriter in collaboration. We think worship songs should be accessible as well as artful. The production is simple and the songs all about in an octave range, so they are relatable to most worship leading environments and instrumentation.
Our producer, Blaine Stark, has been a part of our church's Sunday night service. His musical credits include Switchfoot, Future of Forestry, Izzy Ray, Brenton Brown, Sarah Macintosh, Evan Wickham, Tim Timmons, and many more. Mr. Stark understands our setting and the relationship makes his choice as a producer an obvious one! The sample track "O to Be Like You" gives you an idea of our artistic direction.
Congregational church music has to be sung in the voice of either a woman or a man and for all ages–which is the make up of most congregations. We drew from old hymns, liturgical seasons, and the Kyrie all through the lens of a modern sound. It should sound familiar to the ear of someone who never has been to church. Entertainment is not the goal. We want to create for our church and beyond something of beauty, depth, and truth. Sing these with a guitar, piano or a full modern worship band! We will make the sheet music available to all.
WHAT WILL THE MONEY GO TO?
Obviously, to print CDs, press vinyl LPs and pay for professional production there are costs. We have met the bottom line in our budget for a modest amount of these to be produced, which gives us the chance to share our music with many more people. We also have distribution, copyright fees, and a small bit set aside for marketing--everything from flyers, posters, to digital things needed in any grass-roots artistic endeavor.
We already recorded one of the five songs, "O To Be Like You"--you heard this on the video and in the sample above. So, production for four songs and all the rest of the items give us a budget at $6,000.
If we DO NOT reach our goal, we need to go back to square one on this idea as Kickstarter requires you meet the threshold set. We do not want to start something that will not deliver, so this is why we are doing this on this platform. If our tribe can support us, then we are ready.
We believe the perks provided are actually great values. This will be your chance to not only pre-order the project but to play a vital part in making this project happen! If our tribe is generous, any additional funds will be spent on music production, promoting a live performance and video, and getting our message and songs out to more people.
We invite you to partner with us and receive this music before anyone else! It takes a tribe to launch new things. Thanks for considering being a part of creating a beautiful liturgy.
Planned PUBLIC RELEASE March 1, 2016.
