We are going into the studio to record our first full album. Our vision includes vinyl and a series of 12x12 art prints.
Hello, all friends past, present and future: For those of you who don't know us, we are Billy and Alex Watson and we have a band called Rivals of the Peacemaker. Outside of each other, making music together is the love of our lives and we have written what we feel to be a fantastic bunch of songs!
With the help of some of our best friends and bandmates, Anthony Rubino, Derek "Sweet D" Crawford and Jeff O'Connor, we are recording a record. We have the songs, we have the players, we have the studio.
Alex's background in visual art has worked its way into a process in writing music. Alternating between writing music and making art lead to a desire to create a visual element to the album. What this translates to is a series of ten 12x12" (record sized!) original art prints that will correspond to each song on the record. The timeline of the prints should coincide with the record release in the Spring.
We have saved enough money on our own to get the ball rolling and start the process, but we are raising funds to offset the remainder of the costs of: 1. Professional recording studio time and production and engineering. We have 7 days of tracking to cover the ten new songs, plus several days of mixing. 2. Mixing and Mastering of the album 3. Duplication costs for the album both on CD and a run of vinyl 4. Printing and materials cost for a limited series of original art prints inspired by the songs. We have invested $2500 so far on our own to cover the initial tracking days and the supplies needed to start work on the visual art component.
Studio time / Tracking / Production - $4150
Mixing - $1500
Mastering - $700
Duplication & Packaging - (200 vinyl / 500 CD's) $1570
Studio time / Printing Equipment - $1800
Art Materials - $1200
We plan on working in the studio throughout February with our friend and producer Josh Shapera, and then moving into the next stages of mixing and mastering in March with a completion date and record release show in June, 2013.
This project is ambitious, but it combines our passion for art and music in a way that I hope will result in something truly beautiful.
Thanks for considering our project

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The possible obstacles that might come after funding the project are quite honestly, the things that we do not directly have our hands in. These things might include delays in duplication of the vinyl, or technical difficulties in either the mixing & or mastering phases. Both of these setbacks would be handled with good communication and a dedication to completing the works in a reasonable amount of time. Other than that, we are putting all of our blood, sweat and tears into the timely completion of our project, are 100% confident in our production schedule and will continue to dedicate our time to delivering the goods.
