How to Human is the Microgame of Monsters trying desperately to learn how to pass as humans. Designed as part of the Global Game Jam 2014, the game is intended as a fun riff on the topic of peer pressure. This Kickstarter is to raise funds to get this fantastic game to more players!
You’re a monster who really wants to fit in to human society, so you’ve enrolled in Dr. Blobbleplop’s 3 week crash course in “How to Human.” Try your best to hide traits deemed "too Monstery" so you can pass as a human.
How to Human is a 15 card micro-game designed for 3-4 players (or a 30 card game designed for up to 8 players). Created as part of the Global Game Jam 2014, the game features lightning quick play with fun choices and dramatic reveals. Sure to be a hit at your next game gathering or family outing, How to Human is an easy-to-carry great time for all!
"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."
That was the prompt at the 2014 Global Game Jam. Teams around the world had 48 hours to make a game made based on this prompt. Most teams do digital games, our team went analog. This Kickstarter is being run so we can get our game into the hands of as many people as possible through a pay-what-you-want campaign.
How did we get so far so fast?
Check out how we streamlined our design process for the Game Jam. Sorry for the audio, no time to fix it while we're jammin'.
Keep checking back here for more info, we'll be updating with more content like this shot of the cards as they keep getting better...
Alternate Blobbleplop Audio
If you liked the audio for Dr. Blobbleplop, here are Ali, Rob, and Luke's takes. You can see why we went with Jordan...
VERY rough LTP Video - better one in once the Jam is over and we rest a bit...
More information on our the How to Human webpage and a print and play of the game!
Risks and challenges
We have experience with Kickstarter projects, and we are partnering with Luke Peterschmidt's Geek Dynasty. We plan to use a POD solution for production so we can deliver on a very low goal number. We're not doing this to get rich, we just want to get this game into as many hands as possible!
Our risks are low as all of the creative is being done by the team and we've all done this before (and because this is a micro-game, it's pretty easy for us). However, there are always risks; printers could go out of business, one of us could get hit by a bus, Kickstarter HQ could get hit by a meteor. Let's hope none of that happens...Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
