Growing-up in Laguna Beach, ten year old twin brothers Keanu and Zen have a deep passion for skimboarding. They skim relentlessly along side the best skimboarders in the world, and have developed the skills to match their enthusiasm. Their love of reading and writing, and constant questions at the beach about skimboarding, inspired the brothers to co-author a picture book explaining the sport. The book, Skimstories: Riding Waves, is written to inspire kids to read and skimboard. The book can be read independently by kids in grade school, and by parents to younger children.
In addition to world-class shorebreak, Laguna Beach boasts a thriving art culture. Accordingly, Keanu and Zen have found much joy in the fine arts. Their love of painting has been nurtured by formal instruction, giving the brothers the confidence to self-illustrate their book with watercolor paintings. The boys have also honed their skills in the literary arts by repeatedly submitting winning poems in local poetry contests.
We have launched this Kickstarter campaign for assistance in getting Skimstories: Riding Waves published. We need support for publishing expenses, such as graphics design, and marketing expenses. The text of the book and editing has been completed. The illustration has been drafted and final art is in progress. We hope you will join us on this journey!

Risks and challenges
Our risk: can we reach readers beyond the skimboarding community? The marketing plan mitigates the risk by including school readings/promotion, library readings, Art Walk book signing, and targeting surf shops and media.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
