Regarding Charlottesville Music - Portrait Photography Book
An oral history & portrait photography book of the present, rooted in the past, documenting local musicians in their creative spaces.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, August 31 2018 9:00 PM UTC +00:00.
This book is complete. I have photographed over 100 local Charlottesville musicians as portraits in their creative spaces. In addition I conducted 75 interviews to compile a supplemental oral history which is, as the title suggests, "Regarding Charlottesville Music". The self-published book is hardcover in a 12"x12" layout with over 300 pages of quality photographic paper. Beyond the portraits I have included old concert flyers, photographs and more to add to the narrative of the five decades documented in the book.
The purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to help fund the printing of the book (photography books are expensive to produce) and more importantly get the book into local schools and public libraries and music education centers as inspiration for the next generation of local musicians.
Risks and challenges
Really, none. The gallery exhibit to launch the project debuted on July 6th. Two test prints of this book have already been printed. This book is going to happen, but we need to make it happen bigger!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
