What's Daughter of Titan about?
Daughter of Titan follows Alena Amar, a young woman living in the city-state of Tridecca City, who discovers she is the descendant of the world's last true superhero "Titan".
This sounds like it would be amazing right? Unfortunately, despite Alena's desire to do good, a Titan revival has its detractors; ranging from the head of a shady government augmentation program, to the ex-augmented detective who hunts for illegal augmentations, from Lovecraftian monsters in another dimension to her own disapproving parents.
The series has been inspired by the way superhero comics portray women and the lack of diversity within the industry.

Here's a brief overview of the story
The story is set in Tridecca city, a sprawling metropolis that is comprised of thirteen American and Canadian cities that have banded together as the rest of North America fell into disarray. On top of the regular police force, there exists a government program that uses augmentations to raise regular officers to near superhuman capabilities called the "augthorities". However, public opinion of the augthorities is low with reports of brutality.
Enter Alena Amar, once a promising robotics student, who dropped it to appease her "realist" parents who see no future in the branch of robotics she is pursuing.
In issue 1 when cornered one night by a mugger, she discovers she has superhuman powers. Before she can act, two augthority officers appear and deal with the mugger in a brutal fashion that even raises sympathy from Alena herself.
She confides in her best friend and fellow robotics prodigy Suzanne Perkins and learns Suzanne is building a super suit to replace the augmentation program. Its design was based on the urban legend of Titan. They decide to combine their talents and try and make the world a better place.
Now in issue #2 Titan's return has not gone unnoticed which has brought General Dwight Rossiter and Detective Frank Brenner onto the scene.
General Dwight Rossiter runs the augmentation project. He doesn't take kindly to anyone or anything trying to undermine his life's work. He has the ear of some of the city's most powerful people and isn't afraid to use any means necessary to secure his legacy.
Frank Brenner was the most successful agent on the augmentation program. But augmentations take their toll on the mind and now Brenner suffers from a series of mental conditions. This has made him very unstable, yet Rossiter covers up for him to avoid any shadows being cast on his augmentation program. This essentially gives Brenner the freedom to do whatever he wants (often with messy results).
But sitting in a fancy office sits an even greater threat, an old rival of Titan watches on, waiting for the right moment to tear open a hole to a hellscape dimension and settle an age-old score.
Praise for Daughter of Titan
Being my first comic, issue #1 had a few mistakes. So this time around, I took my time (over a year) to craft the story again and enlisted an experienced editor and new artist to help put the story back on track. Here's what people have said:
Since the last Kickstarter I've been working with various artists to bring a variety of cool prints!
There are 3 amazing prints up as rewards by different artists.
On top of that, there are some unique rewards to be had including signed copies of the script, your own advert in the comic and even cameo appearances in issue #3!
Here is a quick breakdown of some of the reward tiers!
Above that, we start to get into some unique rewards.
For £50: You will get all the rewards in the big bundle, plus an advert for your own comic or product on the inside front cover page.
For £70: You will get all the rewards in the big bundle, plus a bound copy of the script with a few unique notes inside to give insight into the process and creation of Daughter of Titan #2
The £75 reward tier is designed for retailers. If you fancy putting a few copies of Daughter of Titan up in your shop then you can get 10 copies of each issue for a discounted price per issue!
The £120 final and biggest reward. You will have a physical appearance in the next issue of the comic, complete with speaking part!
I love stretch goals. The best stretch goals always give you something for nothing. So if we are lucky enough to get funded, we have a couple of stretch goals lined up for you. Nearly every stretch goal will give you something on top of your pledge! We will reveal the new prints and artists if we reach the stretch goals. It would be amazing to show off all the amazing artwork that is connected to Daughter of Titan.
Stretch Goal #1 (Smashed!)
We made it! Months of work and effort has paid off and after 11 days, we reached our funding goal! But we don't want to stop there, we have lots of amazing extras for you!
Reaching this stretch goal means that everyone will get a signed copy of Daughter of Titan Issue #2!
Stretch Goal #2 (Smashed!)
I discovered Monika Laprus-Wierzejska through her own comic EXIST. The artwork blew me away and I knew I had to do everything to get her on board! So I wanted this stretch goal to pay tribute to that, now everyone gets a digital copy of EXIST, a 45 page comic with absolutely stunning greyscale art!
Stretch Goal #3 (Almost there!)
If we manage to get to 3k, everyone who pledged for at least 1 print, will get a free print by the incredible Dimitris Pantazis! I've been a massive fan of his work for ages, so I plucked up the courage to ask him for a commission. To see if he was interested I decided to send him a copy of issue #1. I was awestruck when he said he wanted to do a print. I just told him he could do whatever he wanted and next thing I know, this lands in my inbox...
Meet the Team!
Richard Mooney (Writer/Creator): Born and raised in Scotland, Richard came out of University and went straight into the brutal world of Freelancing where he has now spent half a decade working on some of the weirdest projects you can imagine.
Daughter of Titan is his first creation, but he has worked on several other comics as a Writer: the bearded escapades of Percy Nobleman and the dark and violent series of Uptown Chronicles are among them.
Monika Laprus-Wierzejska (Artist): Monika doesn't exist on a physical plane. She is a cyber-rider who occasionally creates bad-ass art. Among them is the comic known as EXIST.
Maja Opacic (Colourist): Maja was born in 1983 in Karlovac, Yugoslavia (today Croatia). She received her diploma from the Academy of Arts and Restoration in Belgrade in the study of conservation and restoration of fine art. In 2017, she ventured into the field of digital art and comic book coloring. Her love for comics started in early childhood and grew with European comics like Dylan Dog, Alan Ford, and Modesty Blaise. As comics were the reason for her initial interest in art it seems like her art has made full circle going back to her first love.
Novella Locritani (Letterer): Novella Locritani is a Digital Artist from Italy. She explored almost every graphical field of the comic industry. As a letterer, her name can be found in various published books all over the world, most of them being translated editions of DC, Vertigo and Image comics. She's a newbie LARPer and avid D&D player.
Risks and challenges
I already have a successful issue #1 campaign behind me and in the years since then, I have spent a lot of time working on making this one even better.
One of the things I realised was that creating this is more important than any financial gain for me. So I have provided more than half the up-front art costs and if need be, I'll finance the rest.
By the time the campaign is over, roughly 30 pages of the comic will be inked, and the first 20 will be coloured and lettered. This campaign is for printing and P&P costs. Anything more will go to the art team to finish the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
