Custom software lets you design your own deconstructed little black dress, have it fit to your measurements, and have it made.
Continuum is a user-generated fashion collection. I call it computational couture. It is the application of interactive technologies for bespoke design.
In short, an app lets you draw a dress, turns it into a 3D model, and exports a cutting pattern to make the real dress, sized to your measurements. A laser cutter or plotter cuts the pattern out of fabric, which is then sewn into the dress. All the designs are unified around the theme of the little black dress, and the triangulation used in the software. This allows basically everyone to create their own innovative dress design.
I have made a prototype of the software and dresses, and now would like to finish the project and make it real: so people can design dresses and actually purchase them or download the pattern. This means finishing the software and website, and setting up production to make the physical dresses and deliver them.
This Kickstarter is to jump start the production. We're doing things entirely different from how garment production usually works. Also the designs are complex, and we're looking to create an innovative product of high quality, fitting of the term "couture". We're also hoping to do a show in NYC of the Continuum dresses and accompanying photo series of the real women wearing their designs.
You can try the [in progress] software online at www.continuumfashion.com

For our rewards, we have a variety of triangulated designs for men and women, (we'll update with photos), including of course the chance to order your own Continuum dress from your own design and measurements. (In full implementation the dress prices will be calculated dynamically based on the design.) You can be the first to own an item of truly futuristic design process!
