Mini Update: Meet The Team - Craig Gardiner
Hi guys! So today we'd like to introduce you to Craig Gardiner, head of the Animation team.
Could you introduce yourself?
Hi, my name is Craig Gardiner and I am Lead Animator on Broken Sword – the Serpent’s Curse.
So what exactly does that entail?
As the lead animator I'm responsible for overseeing all the character animation, and making sure our animations fit within Charles's vision of the new game. I also make sure our animation team produce a consistent look to the animations, so that all the characters look like they belong together.
What do you do when you’re not animating?
I'm still as much of a gamer as I was when I was just a kid, although as I've got older it has become harder to find the time to spend on them :-) I'm also big movie fan, as my ever increasing DVD and Blu-ray collection will attest to.
Apparently you take Halloween very seriously, care to expand?
Yeah I haven't really grown up at all, still just a big kid at heart. Halloween is always a big deal with my friends and myself. One year, I remember, several of us dressed up as Tetris blocks which could all fit together. We find that it's as much fun building/making the costumes as it is wearing them for the actual night out :-)
When did you discover Broken Sword?
When Broken Sword was released I was still gaming on my trusty old Amiga, but I was lucky enough to get a chance to play it on a friend’s PC. I remember how impressed I was with the visual style and cinematic feel.
What is your fondest memory of Broken Sword?
A few years ago I'd had the opportunity to work with Charles on another project, which led to me playing Shadow of the Templars again. I'd forgotten how great it was and, along with the success of the iOS versions, it's certainly got me very excited about the new game. It's awesome to be working on a new Broken Sword game :-)
Anything else you'd like to tell the fans?
I'd like to thank all the fans for their amazing support. It's truly inspiring seeing how passionate you all are about this! I'm really hoping that we can meet that stretch goal too, as I'm really keen to start animating that goat!
