Overload Release Update

Like some of you, we at Revival have noticed that it’s almost March 2017, the announced release date of Overload.  And while we're excited that March may bring spring, we're sorry to say that it won't be bringing Overload.

We're working hard on Overload and the game is looking great, but as sometimes happens, it's taking longer than expected.  Our current best guess is that the single-player game will be ready in Fall 2017, with the multiplayer version to follow 4-6 months afterwards.

Since the November demo for our beta backers, we’ve added a ton of cool stuff, such as a much-improved automap, significant enhancements to Challenge Mode, new levels, more sounds and music, and new robots.  We’re sure you’ll love all the new features.

We’re also working on an update of the Playable Teaser that includes all of our new features.  We’ll be releasing that to the general public in a few weeks, and we hope to announce at the same time more detailed plans for the rest of the project.

We'd like to thank you for your patience and support.  We're super-excited about Overload, the response from our backers, and the great feedback we've been getting.  Please keep your comments coming and we'll do our very best to deliver a game everyone will love.

      I understand that things can be delayed. Can you make the beta available to all backers of the final game to make the wait easier to bear?

      I'm gonna pile on and say we are rooting for you all and hope you make a product you're proud of. Many studios remain silent in this situation and I'm happy you gave the report. All that's left is to love making the rest of the game you do.

      Keep at it dudes. Your original release schedule seemed very fast anyways!

      And let me know if you need any help with mundane time-consuming development tasks that plague small indie devs, I'd be glad to help free of charge.

      I think almost everyone would rather you spend whatever extra time you need and release a polished product, rather than rush something out the door just to meet a deadline.

      I probably won't touch the game until the single-player campaign is fully ready though - I don't want any chance of ruining the experience. ;)

      I wasn't even aware that the original targeted launch month was March. No biggie - the only thing that matters is that the finished product is a quality product. If extra time is needed, please take it. Do not rush this. Too many games these days are rushed to market and we consumers end up getting unfinished games. I'm sure nobody wants this to happen with this game.

      While delays are disappointing, I am more than willing to accept that. In fact I'd even prefer if you deliver the whole game as one package in the fall of 2017 to make sure that the game hasn't lost its hype by the time MP comes out.

      I loved the last demo you made, and I think you have something tremendously unique and cool in today's market, and something people really want. I think people are tired of handholding and they want more mazelike shooters. DOOM proved this, and you're about to up the game.

      As long as you folks are alright - not getting stressed out and having something to live on - I don't care how long it takes. I just want a great 6 DOF shooter.

      I buy Ubisoft games so this is not disappointing in the least. Ghost Recon Future Soldier released almost 2 years after their release date. And I still bought and played the heck out of it. =)

      Do what you need to do; I'd rather wait for a fantastic game than have a rushed one now :)

      That's pretty disappointing! But I have to echo the previous comments' sentiments that I'd much rather have a great, delayed game than a mediocre game in March.

      I think, of the games I've backed on Kickstarter, the average release is about 2.5 years late. I'm not sure any of them got it within a year. So if you guys actually do hit Fall 2017, I'll be downright impressed. ;)

      A delayed game will someday be great, while a bad game will always be bad. Do what it takes to make the best game you can, we've got nothing but time.

      I expected this as it happens to pretty much all software kickstarters. But how about November demo to all backers in March as a consolation prize?
