Forums Coming Soon, AMA on Monday, and More
Hello to all our amazing backers! We've got a bunch of cool tidbits to pass onto everyone as we enter the 4th day of the campaign.
Overload Forums Coming Soon
We've already gathered a very passionate community around Overload, and we've heard your requests to have a central place to discuss the game and Kickstarter campaign. Early next week, we'll be launching forums on playoverload.com so everyone can gather in one spot. Not only can we try to answer your questions and discuss ideas for the game, but we can coordinate efforts to help promote the game to new audiences.
On Friday, Lead Designer Luke Schneider played through some prototype levels live on Twitch while Chris, Mike, and Matt answered questions in chat. We don't have a chat log, but we do have a couple excerpts for you to check out. Here's the first playthrough, and here's the 2nd one, with Luke switching to a gamepad early on. Keep in mind the game is still in a prototype phase, and we have many more features, robots, levels, effects, and everything else to add to the game.
Reddit AMA with Mike and Matt on Monday
Just a reminder that Mike Kulas and Matt Toschlog will be on Reddit Monday at 1PM Eastern (6PM GMT) to chat and answer all the questions you can throw at them about Descent, Overload, or anything else you want to bring up. We're planning on sending an update Monday right when it starts with a direct link. You can follow @PlayOverload on Twitter to get a reminder there as well. And if Facebook is your thing, don't forget to Like the PlayOverload page.
The 2nd Wave of Promotion
In addition to the AMA, Revival will be doing another big push with press, streamers, and YouTubers to get the word out. There will be more streaming and videos too, with both actual development and discussions of past and present games. And we'll have a couple fun ways you can participate if you want to help spread the word too.
We're very grateful for everyone's support and suggestions so far, and we're listening to all the feedback and working on ways to make Overload (and our campaign) even better. Your participation and support is what Kickstarter is all about!
New Stretch Goal: Mod Tools & Editor Docs
One last note: We've updated our stretch goals, and our first stretch goal is Mod Tools & Editor Documentation. We're already planning to release the level editor after the game's launch, but by popular demand, we'll also add support for custom robots and weapons if we hit the stretch goal. In addition, we'll do a full usability pass on the all 3 editors (data, level, and decal mesh), and thoroughly document everything so the community can start working on custom missions and mods as quickly as possible. Custom levels were a big part of the Descent community staying alive for so long, and hitting the stretch goal will ensure that Overload has great mod support soon after launch.
