After many years of making cakes for the community, it is time to finally open up our own place! Reverie Bakeshop will be a 100% vegan bakery with the goal to present good quality pastries and add another touch of assortment to our Metroplex. In the process of finalizing things, we have discovered many hidden costs and lots of regulations to follow. Our opening date is just around the corner, but we need your help to get there!
Meet the owners of Reverie Bakeshop :)
Nancy Castillo comes from Laredo, Texas where she acquired the enjoyment of using local cuisine to build and bring the community closer. Being passionately involved in the punk/ hardcore scene as a youngster, she committed to the vegan lifestyle at 15 years old and grew fascinated with cultivating vegan recipes to share with her companions, family, and the musical environment. Nancy soon dropped just about everything in her life and dedicated her time to getting a pastry degree and learn from some of the best pastry chefs around the state. In Dallas, she met a friend with the same passion and wonderful qualities to collaborate as a pastry team (Racene!).
Racene Mendoza is from Dallas, TX. She grew up in her grandmother's kitchen surrounded by all smells, taste, and cooking techniques passed on by her great grandmother. In her childhood, her Aunt Blanca became a cake decorator. Seeing all the elaborate cakes that her aunt would make for her and the family is what later inspired her passion to carry on the tradition. This self taught cake decorator has been baking and decorating cakes for over 8 years now. The best advice she's ever had came from an old box with cake decorating tips that her aunt wrote over 30 years ago.
Dallas-Ft. Worth is a paramount metroplex, and one that will appreciate our bakery's progression. As Reverie Bakeshop expands, we plan to use environmentally conscious practices in doing so. Our menu was designed with the means to reduce waste (80-95% of the waste will be compostable and /or recyclable). We will also acquire as many local ingredients as possible, helping the community in return.
The money raised on Kickstarter will be used for construction projects (painting, flooring, furnishing) and inventory. This amount only covers a small fraction of the business' start-up costs. With the accumulation of expenses from equipment purchases to plumbing and electrical work, our goal is to ease our grand opening without the stress of unmanageable debt. For this reason, we ask for your support so that our bakery can soon cater to the community.
We thank everybody who believes in bringing our vegan bakery to North Texas!

Risks and challenges
With new city codes being put into play, there is a slight chance that our construction build-out could go over our estimated grand opening date (and only by a few days/weeks). However, we have allowed enough time from today till opening for obstacles such as this. Our opening month is September 2013 and we certainly plan to keep it that way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
