We want to keep production local, therefore molding forms, packaging and assembly are all being taken care of in the small, and happy kingdom of Denmark.

We have chosen recycled kraft paper as our packaging and it doubles as a sleek sleeve. This way it is not necessary to throw out the packaging - clever, huh :)
We have made folding and unfolding super easy by decorating all moveable parts with pictograms, that will take you on a guided tour of how to open and securely locking your Sitpack.
By flipping the sides of Sitpack upwards a seat is formed and an adjustable leg is revealed, adjustable from 17 cm to 87 cm and supports up to 130 kg.
The leg is extended by pulling the lowest part to its extreme and the turning the top slider and bottom at the same time in opposite direction. A sweet clicking sound will tell you are doing the right thing, and the pictograms will visually tell you that the product is securely fastened, and ready for resting.
At the football pitch, at outdoor summer concerts, waiting for the train, that is notoriously delayed, and in the bar. (Yes, we have tried it - works like a charm).
And best of all Sitpack makes ergonomic resting affordable.
Most foldables, are clumsy and inconvenient, and worst of all they seat you in the worst position thinkable - especially if used with a standing crowd. The clear physiological benefit when using Sitpack is Balance and core is stimulated, and your back is automatically straightened which increases blood flow and keeps you focused.
Small is the new black! Everything we own, computers, headphones, mobile phones, even our clothes are made in compact travel editions. Except for resting. This is not the case anymore.
At only 16.8cm tall and 6.6 cm in diameter Sitpack is truly pocket-able, bag-able, glove-compartmentable :)
And now we are able, with your help, to redefine resting and aid people waiting, anywhere at anytime and at any age. At transport hubs, open-air events and doing or watching their favorite hobbies; hunting, fishing, golfing, formula-1and the list goes on. Also for musicians, and creatives that want the stability of a chair when drawing, but need the portability of a water bottle.
Never more will we be dependent on stationary resting or seating, this dependency does not allow for the agility of all other products that we carry around.
By combining these principles, with the problem at hand, we have created The World’s most compact, foldable resting device!

When ordering your own Sitpack we will ship it to you fresh from the oven, or you can pick it up at a local store.
To make resting cool and inclusive, we had to reinvent and rethink a lot of telescopic mechanisms. Actually we had to figure out a whole new way to make a collapsible product. Not an easy task.
There were three ways to go about solving the problem.
Using extruded aluminum tubes with a twist and lock mechanism, or with tube spring locks. Both solutions results in increased size in length and in width when collapsed and extended.
Also we tried the folding ruler concept, which will reduce size drastically, increase portability, but the construction is to weak when exposed to side pressure, which is inevitable.
Reinvent collapsible telescopic tubing, as well as the entire logic about foldable and portable mechanisms.
It was quite an intense journey from napkin sketch (literally) to a 3D printed prototype and a fully developed product that can actually hold a grown man and at the same time being intuitive enough to be used at any age.
We figured that the reason why any telescopic pod, mono or tripod has a limit to their collapsed size is due to the inner locking mechanisms. So how to get around that?
We included the locking mechanisms inside the tube itself. Quite unique, and after going through hundreds of patents in related categories - both by our self and by other experts - it was clear that no one had done this before.
Why? - We ask our self that question to this day!
Anyways, talking to injection molding experts at plastic fairs and contacting injection molding facilities around scandinavia it became clear that the task was quite complicated tooling and production wise.
As we need 11 molds in total and 8 molds with internal geometries it quickly turned out more extensive that we ever imagined. Our first constructional solution, a 100% adjustable geometric locking solution, turned out to be the most expensive solution. That is collapsible core molding. (Very nerdy, yes)
So, lessons learned, and back to the drawing board. The final locking and adjusting solution was inspired by the below classic chair.
We ended up with a really cool molding technique, that still permit inner geometries, at a fraction of the price. Still quite costly, but reasonable.
So, we are creating Sitpack exclusively with injection molded parts, which permit high quality production, with complex geometries within each part.
The production demand very sophisticated molding tools, which have made the DFM (Design For Manufacturing) aspect one of the main challenges. The collapsible feature makes strength and stability an essential challenge. Creating a demanding product like Sitpack only from polymer material requires advanced calculations and stress analyses to ensure that shrinkage, polymer warping, creep and relaxation will not become issues. Therefore we have teamed up with the most skilled people in their respective fields and have worked hard to optimize the complex inner design to accommodate the manufacturing method. All this of course without compromising the strength, stability and the user-friendly design. The process has required heterogeneous engineering competences in statics, mechanics, polymer materials and injection molding tooling.
User involvement have led to:
Lower strength input to collapse Sitpack (we are pretty strong guys- so it was quite gnarly in the beginning)
Improved touch and feel: From silky smooth to rugged anti-slip
Improved and clearified user guide and pictogrammes
Polycarbonates are strong, stiff, hard, tough, transparent engineering thermoplastics that can maintain rigidity up to 140°C and toughness down to -20°C. Special grades even lower. The material is amorphous (thereby displaying excellent mechanical properties and high dimensional stability), is thermally resistant up to 135°C and rated as slow burning. Special flame retardant grades exist which pass several severe flammability tests.
Our vision - to make a product that not only looks good, feels good but also inclines the user to bring the product with them.
Garbage is caused not by products themselves but by people's laziness! People leave stuff behind because its a nuisance to carry it with them. With Sitpack you will not add to this increasing problem. Sitpack is made for you to put in you pocket, and put it back home on the mantel piece until next time.
Awesomely, the Sitpack device is the first resting device made of 1 material (excluding the foot). Making Sitpack really easy to recycle. In theory, we can granulate each device and pour it into our molds, to produce new devices.
The material used to make Sitpack is polycarbonate, which also is used in the manufacturing of riot shields and bullet proof glass :) Needless to say, Sitpack is durable beyond belief, while keeping a low weight of just 380 grams.
We have been through numerous schemes for recycling and sustainability. Such as through community based setups with Deeple, where you personify objects by the ease of attaching a QR code.

We are not the first entrepreneurs that thought about the portability of seating and its many benefits. The first patent for foldable seating was filed back in the 17th century, so we must have come along way since then? Actually, no. it is more or less still the same constructions as a hundred years ago, until now.
With the Sitpack device we have developed a revolutionary locking system. Until now no telescopic units provide the same level of compact performance as our design. The novelty lies in the engineering process, and finally, in the hand of our tool makers. To make the miniature internal geometries in the parts for Sitpack, everything needs to be handled with extreme precision and only the best in plastic injection molding can handle this task.
The risks involved in producing Sitpack have been and still are being mitigated along the way. We are in close contact with our production facilities to ensure high quality and effective production. Our team of advisors, tool makers, engineers and injection molding experts will make sure, that every obstacle faced during the production process will be put down, faster than ... fast.

As we are creating a physical product, there is the risk of not being able to deliver, since production is dependant on our supporters on Kickstarter.
If everything goes well and all our kind backers help us raise enough money to start production, most other obstacles have already been torn down. Complete production chain has already been setup.
The above being said, nothing is set in stone and many factors can still change. Color options and delivery dates may vary and minor changes to design and exterior are to be expected.
