About this project
To stay up to date with the film, please visit our website at www.talesinflight.com.
The tale begins simply: A dog is abandoned. A shelter picks him up. And he sits. Caged and forgotten. People pass by but he goes unnoticed. Options for this pet are limited and his time is short.
What if this dog had a new and loving home but it was far away? How would his potential owners find him and how in the world would they bring him home?
Meet Jeff Bennett, a former military pilot who’s flown dozens of missions for Pilots n Paws, donating his time, plane, and fuel, to transport dogs across hundreds of miles to their new family. He's also rescued snakes, pot bellied pigs, chicken, birds, rabbits, monitor lizards, and every kind of cat and dog and imaginable--nearly 2000 so far.
And Jeff is just one of the hundreds of volunteer pilots who have flown over 40,000 animals from Maine to Florida. Pilots n Paws has saved over 40,000 animals from destruction and placed them in loving homes thanks to the willingness of a few.
The story of Tales in Flight follows the incredible journey these animals take, from their tragic starts in life to their amazing transformations when they reach their new homes. Tales in Flight tells this story and that of the amazing rescuers that not only realize how amazing these creatures are but are willing to go above and beyond to save them.
Come on this journey with us. Help us finish this film--and help us share these incredible tales!
Risks and challenges
This project began four years ago with my first almost comical efforts at dog rescue. Over the next few years, we flew on many missions, fostered lots of dogs and the film began to take shape.
Now it's time to tie up the loose ends, put together a budget and start telling these incredible stories. We're budgeting just enough money to finish the film, including another week of shooting, a month of editing, money for travel, and a small crew. We also have post production expenses including music scoring, audio sweetening, graphics, hard drives, etc. And we've also budgeted for film festival expenses, Kickstarter fees, and fullfillment for all of the great rewards we intend to give to all of our backers.
We are full time filmmakers with over fifteen years of experience and hundreds of video and film credits. We are experts at putting together high production value, at minimal cost. This is a passion project we are all doing for greatly reduced rates so that we can get the story told--and save more dogs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Great question! Once the film is completed, it can be useful in several ways:
First, any overall awareness on animal rescue issues is good for everyone! Let's hope we inspire some more fosters, adopters, volunteers or at least social media contributors and funders!
Second, we are offering the DVD to any animal rescue organization that would like use it to raise money. We will have a special link where the DVD can be purchased at cost for approved rescue organizations.
We will also be holding special screenings across the country where a percentage of the proceeds will be given to local rescues. At our Kickstarter release party in Knoxville we raise nearly a thousand dollars for Small Breed Rescue of East TN, Adopt a Golden Knoxville, and Dames for Danes! We intend to continue to reach out and involve more rescue organizations every chance we get.
So let's get this film made!!!! Spread the word!
