"The Veligent" is a lighthearted fantasy story, suitable for older children and adults. It is full of animals; deep, well fleshed out characters; and a world rich in backstory and details. I have been writing about this world and its occupants since I was fourteen, and I am delighted to brag that virtually everyone who reads this story has fallen in love with it!

I've been creating fantasy art professionally for over forty years, starting with a successful line of art prints, and I'm still at it, with sculptures of dragons, griffins and other odd creatures produced by our company, Windstone Editions. I've always been passionate about animals, anatomy and biology -as well as comics!
I live on a farm with my family and other assorted earthlings in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon, USA.
This is the story of a beautiful, newly created world, Ayonah, a kind, but inexperienced creator deity, and his secret plan to save his world from disaster.
It is also about Kade, a newly graduated young doctor as he pursues an elite medical career with the rank of "Field Veligent" – a military doctor of injured souls. His patients would include the local demons.
Souls in this world are real physical things called "vels". They resemble colorful, fiery jellyfish.
King Serence knows that handling the souls of demons is an extremely dangerous job. It requires years of training, great physical size and strength, supreme self defence skills, as well as a mature and disciplined mind...
...and it is obvious to the king that Dr. Kade has none of these traits.
Although Kade's future career as a Field Veligent in the service of the king looks unlikely, this underestimated young doctor may be positioned for a much greater destiny!
This book is part of my "Reptangle" series. The story continues with "Rue Day", the next book I am working on.

Now, about poads...
Kade's medical assistant, Podge, is a small but important character. She is a POAD. Poads are beaked, guinea pig sized creatures with many remarkable talents. I have hand painted lots of colorful poad figurines in several sizes as rewards for this Kickstarter!
Music for videos written and created by Griffin Alberti. The music for this video was made using cardboard, a mouth, and our glass mixing bowls. Totally amazing. Applause!
The winged meerkats use "katspeak", so they're a little difficult to understand. They call Kade "KD". No is "NG". Yes is "YP!"
Below is a description of other items included in the reward tiers:
This sketchbook could have been a Kickstarter project on its own, but I am including it as a reward item for "The Veligent".
This is a collection of sketches, reference stuff, ideas and whatnot that I made during the creation of "The Veligent". It will be printed in color, so although many sketches are graphite pencil and black ink, the colors will be rich and realistic.
- 48 pages
- soft cover
- 6.625 x 10.25 inches
- lots of unicorns and cows
My original figurines are cast gypsum reproductions of my original sculptures. They are signed and painted by me, and produced by our own company, Windstone Editions.
Their eyes are kiln fired glass, and the wolf's horns are pewter.
A "Grab Bag" edition is a batch of castings of the same sculpture that I have airbrushed and hand painted individually, so each one is unique. When you include a grab bag poad as one of your rewards, the exact color of your poad will be a mystery until you open the box!

What the funds will be used for
The goal amount will cover printing, shipping, fulfillment and miscellaneous costs of producing 1000 copies of "The Veligent" and a smaller print run of " A Reptanglian Sketchbook". Any overflow in funds from this delicious pie will go toward costs associated with creating the sculpture rewards!
A few endorsements from readers!
These are add-ons that can be included in some reward levels because they will fit in the box. Add the amount of the item(s) you would like to your pledge amount. You will need to remember what you included when you fill out the survey at the end of the campaign.
Risks and challenges
The art for this book is finished, the sketchbook is finished, most of the reward sculptures are finished, all that's left is to enjoy this successful Kickstarter, and raise the funds to print the books!
We are an established company that has been producing, selling and shipping my art for nearly four decades as Alberti Design and Windstone Editions.
We will be mailing the books and rewards from the mother ship at Windstone Editions, located in Oregon USA. Our mother shipping department is staffed, supplied, caffeinated and ready to pack and ship art.
That's what we do, every day. We got this!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
