The 1730 Full Metal Hotend works notably different to other Hotends. We have worked closely together with well-known filament developer Kai Parthy from Cologne, Germany (Inventor of Laywood, Laybrick and a ton more great things) bringing this exciting new Hotend to life. His extensive and unparalleled experience in creating all kind of filaments and our shared dissatisfaction with current Hotend technology made us design a new Hotend from scratch which incorporates all the lessons we have learned over the years. Besides the feature of switching from 1.75 mm to 3 mm in a few easy steps we have achieved many improvements on the thermal functionality of the Hotend. 1730 is specially designed to provide answers to the limitations of current fused deposition modeling (FDM) Hotend technology. We are convinced that the 1730 Hotend will simply, improve and open new applications in 3D-Printing.
For fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D-printing 1.75 mm and 3 mm filaments are available. Some believe that 3 mm filaments will be discontinued in the near future. Kai Parthy’s (Filament developer & Hotend specialist) comments on this: “ This is nonsense. Special filaments which can not be produced in 1.75 mm diameter, soft filaments which hardly feed in a thin tube will always be manufactured in 3 mm diameter. The 3 mm filament market share still holds about 35 % in Europe.
Over the last 5 years I have developed my own Hotends for testing my filament creations. I also use and test with full metal Hotends available on the market but I often need to do extensive adjustments on them to overcome thermal issues. By this the idea came up to solve these thermal problems (PLA blockage etc..) in finding a new setup. Together with the team of ReprapUniverse we have build prototypes. Intensive testings and re-adjustments over the past months have resulted in fully functional prototypes which have successfully passed the BETA phase. The 1730 has truly surpassed my initial expectations. It has all the potential on setting new standards as a consumer-friendly Hotend ”.
The 1730 Full Metal Hotend (patent pending) offers many great features that makes it a truly unique Hotend. Two mounting systems will be delivered with every 1730 Full Metal Hotend. These two standard mounts will make it possible to mount the 1730 Full Metal Hotend from the start to a large selection of 3D-Printer Models. For example Reprap Printers with Greg’s Wade Extruder, Delta 3D-Printers, GRRF (German Reprap) and printers which have already mounted a J-Head or E3D Hotend. More mounts / adapters for other 3D-Printers will be available in the future.

Why Kickstarter? We have now reached the stage of a complete functional prototype. The 1730 Full Metal Hotend has successfully passed our testings and meets all of our requirements. The next step is to move to mass production. Which means producing many units, all of the same quality level. We hope to cover the required investments by a Kickstarter Campaign and speed up its distribution. The 1730 Kickstarter Campaign is set to start mid-January 2016.
For early Backers the 1730 Full Metal Hotend will be delivered by the end of March 2016.

The 1730 Full Metal Hotend has been extensively tested over a long period of time by our team and a close (and critical!) external circle of trustees. We have already initiated pre-production and are confident that we can fulfill our promises on time.
Both our companies share several years of experience in production, sales, distribution & packaging. We have carefully selected all of the necessary suppliers and backup suppliers. Over these years we have established close trusted relationships with our suppliers and we have multiple suppliers for every component we're not producing in house.
