About

SYNOPSIS

In this striking thriller/dark comedy, Tyler, a troubled paparazzi photographer, meets with a controversial reality TV star to discuss a secret photo project. Upon arriving at the star’s lavish home, Tyler learns that the “secret project” is scandalous, troubling, and possibly dangerous. She must decide whether to accept the offer, and put her own safety in jeopardy, or turn it down and risk passing up a once in a lifetime opportunity.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

As both a photographer and filmmaker, I have always been fascinated by the relationship between artist and subject. I believe that there is no more complex artistic relationship than that of the paparazzi to the celebrities they photograph. Celebrities are viewed as the most important and exalted members of society, while paparazzi are viewed as despicable and lowly, despite the fact that they occupy the same spaces, are in constant contact with each other, and often form mutually beneficial collaborations. Each needs the other to succeed, yet there is a fierce animosity that exists between the two. By placing them in the same space, I look to highlight the differences, and similarities in the diametrically opposed lifestyles, as well as in the "highs" and the "lows" of  American social structure.

PREVIOUS WORK

I am the creator of a web-series called $5.00 Shorts, which is a series of short films, each made for $5.00 or less. The shorts have been screened publicly at Shorts Night Film Festival. The idea for Exposures grew out of an all-still-photograph $5.00 Short titled Rigor Opus, which can be viewed below.

I also am also an avid photographer, and from 2013-2015 created The American Lens project, which is a series of portrait photographs each featuring found-subjects wearing a pair of sunglasses with the American flag on them. It explores themes of diversity, iconography, and what it means to be an American in the 21st century.
