Since 2012, Relay Dance Collective has produced dozens of sold-out performances and provided opportunities to more than 100 performers and choreographers. Now, we're taking our final bow as a collective May 18-20, 2018 at Yaw Theater. And that's where you come in! We need your help to make our final show happen.
THE FINAL SHOW
Our Encore Performance is not-to-be-missed! See audience favorites from throughout the years, including works set to live music by The Bad Tenants and Seattle Kokon Taiko.
Featured choreographers include Alethea Sadie Alexander, Alana O Rogers, Diana Cardiff, Gabrielle Nomura Gainor, Austin Sexton, and Jessica Zoller.
Dancers will include veteran RDC members, plus guest artists from Intrepidus Dance.
Relay Dance Collective was created by Tess Wendel, Gabrielle Nomura Gainor, Austin Sexton, and Jasmine Morgan in 2012. Since our first performance in 2013, the collective has mounted the work of established artists such as Wade Madsen, Diana Cardiff, Amy Johnson, Alana O Rogers, Markeith Wiley, Lauren Edson, Paula J. Peters, Xaviera Vandermay, Imana Gunawan, Sara Jinks, and Brenna Monroe-Cook. The group has also provided opportunities for emerging artists and recent college dance graduates. Relay is proud to have provided the first Seattle choreography commissions for artists such as Cheryl Delostrinos (Au Collective), Ella Mahler, recent choreographer for NW New Works, Jessica Zoller, now of Portland's Polaris Dance Company, and Hailey Burt, who co-produced Inlay Dance/Foundation in September 2017.
"The diverse array of works brought a revitalizing energy to the space. This energy, combined with the program's broad scope of taste and styles, makes Relay Dance Collective a troupe well worth supporting."

Risks and challenges
Relay Dance has had five successful seasons, each culminating in a major annual performance. In addition to this concert, the organization has produced studio events, formal galas, and special outreach performances each year. Since its founding, Relay has been directed by a team of dancers with both artistic skills and business savvy. This year’s producers, Gabrielle Nomura Gainor and Tess Wendel, work for thriving non-profit organizations outside their dancing lives and bring that experience to bear in leading this very important anchor leg of the Relay. Relay has provided opportunities and served as a nexus for several other dance groups and projects. We are hopeful that with this final "encore" performance, we will leave audiences and the dance community much richer, and with a passion for live performance.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
