I have been taking photos in Georgia, my home state, for a number of years. I lived in Los Angeles for a long time and when I'd travel "home" I always liked photographing things I'd see. I moved back to Georgia in 2010 and since then I've been adding to a body of work that is images taken mostly in rural or small town areas in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Lousiana. I like taking smaller highways when I'm going somewhere and to pull over and photograph things that I see and find interesting. I am drawn to colorful scenes, and hand painted signs, cars for sale, produce stands, small town grocery stores, plastic funeral flowers etc. This book is a collection of images that I find celebratory. Celebrating the idea of home, which to me can be present in a place I've never been. There can be a familiarity of a space, of a smell, of the way the light comes across a place. I invite you to Rejoice with me.

Risks and challenges
This project is a labor of love, and there are some unavoidable costs involved. The printing of the books and shipping from the printer in the Netherlands is the main cost and I am doing this kickstarter to try to recoup some of the upfront costs associated with making my first real book.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
