      @Jos "I pledged for the titanium version.
      It comes with titanium I-mount and I-back as it says in the description.
      Will the mount and back be different from the 'regular' versions?
      I really like the clean design of the camera as it is now!
      Hopefully we get some more backers in the final days."

      Thank you for your support! :) The titanium units are produced in a similar way to the standard Reflex camera, so both the plate and back are will not differ in form from the standard version.

    2. REFLEX Creator on

      @Kelly Dun This is technically possible yes, however we have not done any prototyping for such a plate/mount as of yet.

    3. REFLEX Creator on

      @Andrew "The campaign page mentions open source h/w, I assume the Arduino s/w will also be open source?" Most certainly. We will publish the open HW/SW sections on our web page once Reflex is officially out.

      "Regarding the LED lamp. I'm wondering how effective it could be so has it been proven to be of use photographically?" The idea comes from the fact that we are used to having a continuous light source with us on our phones and we like the practical element of this. Technically it was never really a viable idea when these cameras where originally designed. Similar to the flash, it works we suggest a maximum distance of about 1.5m/5feet (at ISO 200-400). However if you want a more professional onboard solution we would suggest you use the hot shoe (situated front right of the camera under the hotshot cap) to mount a flash unit or LED panel.

      @Mistral75 Thanks for the clarification. @Jelly Indeed not a silly question. We have just added a section about this to the FAQ.

    5. Mistral75 on

      @Jelly

      Your questions aren't silly but they were asked and answered before in this very section of the project :).

      To sum it up: the normal state of any lens on any I-Plate is stopped down. Metering in particular is done stopped down. There is a button or a slider, depending on the mount, on the bottom right part of the I-Plate (when looking from the rear of the camera) that fully opens the aperture when pushed or slid. You shall take advantage of it when framing and/or focusing.

      Jelly on

      Possibly a series silly questions, but given the interchangeability of the lens mounts, how exactly does metering work in regards to aperture? How do the different lenses communicate aperture with the meter? Is it stop-down or open aperture? Thanks!

      Apparently there several versions of this lens, series 2,4,5,6,7.
      Will you be sourcing a particular version of this lens or just whatever is available."

      No not at all silly question at all. These will be sourced depending on availability, however it will indicate whether the lens is single or multi coated. This can be a preference and we will inform whether the customer has a preference. Also, some of the later generations are non-metal casings, these we will not use.

      @Andrew You read that right. The camera will have BLE on board. The stretch is to further (or faster) unlock development of the IoT and remote capabilities.

    14. Andrew on

      @creator, Are you going to include the BLE module hardware in the camera as standard or is this subject to the 150k stretch goal? I got the impression the extra funding goal was to enable development of the connectivity/app software in time for release.

      @mistral75 Ah yes, my You is hyperopia and astigmatic. I guess at close range you can see the controls, whereas I cannot. But spectacles are good in both cases

    16. Mistral75 on

      @Dgy Geezer

      I'm not the one requesting dioptre correction options, other people are. I'm just suggesting a possible solution.

      The answer to your "if you... how do you..." is quite simple: 'you' is myopic (shortsighted).

    17. Missing avatar

      Dgy Geezer on

      @mistral75 Glasses/Lunettes are best. If you need a diopter adjustment, how do you manage to see the controls on the camera or the focal distance on the lens?- I cant. I messed with diopters, but without specs I could not manage the camera. With specs, you dont need a diopter

    18. REFLEX Creator on

      @Mistral75 We will happily take that on board. There is a current design (with the rectangular eyepiece) that has a diopter adjustment, but it's something we can't promise will make it onto the camera, so yes maybe as an alternative we can go this route.

    19. Mistral75 on

      With reference to dioptre correction options, couldn't you replace the current rectangular eyepiece by a circular one with a standard diameter and thread, so that people can screw in dioptre correction lenses?

      Nikon and Voigtländer, among others, propose such dioptre correction lenses in various strengths. They will fit such cameras as the Voigtländer Bessa R2, R3, R4 and Bessaflex, the Epson RD series, the Fujifilm X-Pro 1, the Nikon FA, FM, FM-2, FE and FE-2, the Zeiss Ikon 35 / Zeiss ZM series and even some Contax cameras.

      In short, they are quite standard.

      @Andrew "what will the lever on the top do?" The selector on top switches between flash and LED, once selected, the button is used to set the intensity.
      "Will it be used to select average/spot metering modes?" The Spot Meter is operated by a momentary button, front-right of the camera.
      "I assume it will have an 'off' setting. When off will the shutter release be inhibited? What’s the button on the back for?" Yes, it does, it operates by rotating the shutter release button. The shutter will not operate in 'OFF' mode.
      "is the prototype shown in the Dropbox images pretty much the final design layout? I quite like the style by the way, it has a no nonsense machined look about it." It might get a bit of a polish, but it will pretty much remain the way it is presented yes.

      @Graham Johnstone "Regarding Refurbished lens.
      Please forgive my ignorance on this subject.
      To what extent will the process be when refurbishing the lens.
      Will the condition of each lens be a priority when selecting them for refurbishment."

      That's ok, your question makes sense. The refurbishment will be for the optical and mechanical parts and it comes with a 1 month return and a 2 year warranty. Regarding aesthetics, we don't take anything under A- into consideration for refurbishment. Hope this helps!

      @Mistral75 Thanks for letting us know. Should be ok now. Maybe if you could refresh and check again as we don't have access to a Windows platform.

      @Reflex @Creator

      Thank you for the Dropbox link with the additional pictures. The file named BW4.jpg seems to be corrupted though: I can't open it with any image editor and, within the .zip archive, it's oddly compressed (36% versus 5% to 7% for the other ones).

      Could you please have a look at it on a Windows platform? I thank you in advance.

    35. REFLEX Creator on

      @ Benjamin Hinkeldey "Will there be the possibility to order the latter additionally for the same shipment though? I'm asking because international shipping costs are a major pain in the arm!"

      You can add-on (raise) your pledge by the amount you need for an additional mount (or back) and when the campaign ends you will be sent a backers survey asking you to confirm the type of mount. So no need for separate shipping!

    36. REFLEX Creator on

      @Federico That's ok:)

      1. Can we have more detailed camera pictures?
      2. Is there a plan to build a brand new lens (or series of lenses) branded "Reflex"for this camera?
      3. When will the camera debut at Photokina 2018, will it still be a prototype or will it be the final version?
      4. "Painful Button": When will the machine be officially on the market as a finished product?

      1. Of course: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bwopxu44q25vgw7/AACQ-A8IMbQ6keS1gQSdWfMda
      2. Maybe in the future we would look into creating a manual lens line as not that many new options are around anymore, but for now we would encourage to use the broad range of available second hand lenses. These can be private sales (ebay etc), but also from retailers who would offer warranty.
      3+4. Reflex will ship by the end of August 2018 to everyone that backed us on Kickstarter, so Photokina (September) 2018 will show a production camera.

      Hope this helps!

      @Ehimetalor Akhere Ejadamie Unuabona This is a Black Friday offer only which we extend over the weekend. Re confirmation, all pledges are timestamped, this allows us to see which ones come in during this period. The offer is only for the duration of 24 until 26 November, but technically you could re-pledge yes.

      I saw on your Instagram that you'll be giving anyone who gets any Reflex early bird kit from 24-26 November will get an extra I-plate. If that's the case what about everyone who has bought one beforehand?

      Will we get one as well by default or an exception to the rule?
      Will I have to remove my pledge and repledge just for the offer?
      How are you supposedly going to prove or confirm that this said backer pledged on this day

      Hi there,
      this is probably a dumb question, but here it goes anyway:
      the standard Reflex comes with a M42 mount...
      - only M42?
      - fixed mount?
      - no possible upgrade for extra I - Mounts?

      Will there be the possibility to order the latter additionally for the same shipment though? I'm asking because international shipping costs are a major pain in the arm!

      Thanks for any clarification...

    45. REFLEX Creator on

      @Aurelio Antonio Villalpando Bravo Thanks for pointing this out. Not all of us working on the comment section are equipped to differentiate between operating current and voltage. In terms of maximum input current it should allow of all standard USB charging devices and maximum current is 1A. Hope this helps

      @Andrew Good eyes. The second battery sits front right of the camera behind the I-Plate.

    46. Andrew on

      @creator, No big deal but are you sure your using two batteries? In the photo titled Reflex Mechanical and Design Prototypes I can see a battery located in the hand grip bulge space. Looks like a 14500 sized battery to me which is same size as a regular AA. I can't imagine there is space for another 14500 battery elsewhere and I would have though a single 14500 3.7V cell would suffice for this application.

    47. Aurelio Antonio Villalpando Bravo on

      @Reflex @Creator about the batteries what you are talking about is voltage, not current, an USB 2.0 port can provide up to 500 mA of current at 5V and USB 3.0 up to 900 mA at 5V, and if we start talking about power delivery usb or charging usb the current and the voltage can be higher. I think is important to know which will be the maximum input current for the charging.

    48. REFLEX Creator on

      @Jirasak Praisankul Also we will work towards having at least 1 affiliated support or service center on each continent when we start shipping. Well, maybe not Antarctica :)

    49. REFLEX Creator on

      @Jirasak Praisankul "Hello Reflex team, what kind of warranty do you offer for the camera?"

      Reflex equipment is guaranteed against any manufacturing defects for one year from the date of Purchase. Also the warranty card is issued at the time of invoice and is non-transferable. In the case of Kickstarter this will be activated upon shipping of the product. Shipping itself is insured and guaranteed.
