About this project
Where does our trash actually go? With our current waste stream, as consumers none of us really know. In America we discard over 146 billion cups from coffee consumption annually. Even when we think we are recycling and doing a good deed, the paper itself within these products can only be reused 2-3x before the fibers are unusable and discarded into local landfills without consumer's knowing. It is time to consumer smarter...
We have developed a post consumer paper based cup which will be able to extract over 1 ton of CO2 out of the atmosphere annually once planted. We have taken those fibers from local recycling centers, which would usually be too rough to implement back into a packaging product, and created a cup that we are happy to truly name the most eco friendly disposable coffee cup. If you decide to throw away and not plant, no problem. The cup is compost certified and will be able to biodegrade within 180 days leaving the seeds and cup itself to turn into nutrients for other plants to enjoy!
The consumer drinks their coffee from the coffee shop. If they choose to take the cup with them, they can plant it in several scenarios based off of the seed variety embedded within the cup.
They can see the seed variety displayed on the front of their cup as well as planting instructions on the bottom of the cup. Unravel the cup, soak in water for 5 minutes and watch grow!
If the consumer decides to discard the cup, they can place the cup in a special trash can where Reduce. Reuse. Grow. (or third parties) can come in and take the cups for local reforestation purposes.
Reforestation locations can be anything from small communtiy projects to State or National parks where fires, over grazing or other habitat destruction has happened and additional native planting are needed in order to replenish those areas!

You are a high fiving, hand shaking, shaka throwing supporter! Remember us any time you use any of the following gestures and spread the movement!
You my friend will be greatly admired on the first ever released cups throughout the coffee shop chains. Your name along with some other fellow noble believers, will one day be planted on some of the first ever plantable coffee cups, leading to reforestation throughout California and eventually the world! Pretty epic huh... But that's not all. You will also receive a custom 8" x 10" landscape print, personally photographed, supporting Reduce. Reuse. Grow. and the beautiful landscapes we stand for.
Not only will you be able to rest assured that your name will be printed on a cup which will eventually turn into a tree, taking over a ton of CO2 out of the atmosphere annually, or feel extatic whenever you gaze at your glossy 8" x 10" landscape print being shown off in your office, kitchen or bedroom, but you will also recieve a long sleeve custom Reduce. Reuse. Grow. T Shirt or Trucker Hat showing off the beautiful Central Coast of California. Not from California but you feel like donating and representing this amazing new product? All the more reason for you to donate and gaze at your long sleeve as well for inspiration to get out here, check it out and plant a cup!
Okay, Okay, Okay... You get the idea... Matter of fact you love the idea! You see the vision and you are on board. Let's put your name on the cup, get you both the long sleeve shirt and the hat to match so you can represent the movement and our beautiful landscapes. But you will also receive a blow up 24" x36" high gloss landscape picture that we will customly take just for you. You can choose from a variety of photos we take, or tell us what you want and we will go on the adventure to take it! We are up for the challenge!
A HUGE thank you but you are here for way more than that. You have style. Here at Reduce. reuse. Grow. we are dedicated to bringing consumer's the best possible product both for the environment but also for the user. Not only will you receive and be featured in the amazing products we have listed upto now, you will be one of view who receive a special edition "Peter Lik" gallery style picture to hang up and display to everyone you know. Showcase with style that you are proud to stand behind a movement and product that have the power to change the way we consume and discard our waste. Pick from our exclusive "Executive Visionaire" Gallery collection (or we can take a custom photograph for you, just let us know what you would like to see on your wall!)
You are about as serious as it gets about the vision! You want to be holding a Reduce. reuse. Grow. cup in you hand within the next year! So we re going to give you one. Own one of the first 10 of the World's First Ever Plantable Coffee Cups, cased, framed and signed by the inventor. This product will be 1 of the 10 cups given to our "Platinum Visionaires" with our provisional patent number on it, versus our actual patent which will be printed on all cups once released. If this idea spreads and catches on, this could be a pretty sweet reward... So don't miss out!
Dont worry, we know you have style as well. That's why we are doubling the size of your "Peter Lik" Gallery Style picture so you can show off your backing on Reduce. Reuse. Grow. in your entertaining space or at your office. Show off how you would like to dispose your waste to clients and friends!
Congratulations! Let me shake your hand personally. If I get to do so, that means the campaign was successful and Reduce. Reuse. Grow. is on it's way to creating a cleaner more beautiful way to deal with our trash, just starting with coffee cups. Lets talk about potential new markets the patent technology can impact and give consumer's the most ultimate eco friendly option available on the market when disposing their waste. Let's discuss this over lunch wherever, whenever. Ill come make it out to your area or come on out to San Luis Obispo where there is plenty of delicious "mom and pop" style eateries. I look forward to hearing about what you think about this movement and how we can make your visions of Reduce. Reuse. Grow. a reality.

Risks and challenges
At this point there are no risks. We are at a stage which we are taking a prototype model into the next stage of prototyping which is commercial prototyping or trying to get the idea into a commercially manufactured process. We will be working out all the risks and challenges once we have a product that can be commercially made with economic marketable potential. Some of the risks we will solve before launching include:
The act of spreading non native or "invasive" species.
Picking the right material to biodegrade by 90% within 180 days or less.
Creating a system to which there are the supply of cups on market as there are the demand of reforestation sites within those communities.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
