Update #36: Video production update!

Posted by Red Thread Games (Creator)

Hello, backers!

We've just recorded a new video production update -- you can find the HD version on YouTube and the SD version below.

In this update, Martin, Dag and Ragnar talk about what's been happening with Dreamfall Chapters this past month, what the production team is working on (hint: it's a game!), and what's ahead in the near future.

We've got more video updates lined up, and next week we hope to show you our brand new offices, as we (fingers crossed) move into our permanent, long-term digs. The finishing touches are currently being put on the kitchen, where many frozen pizzas will be heated and eaten, and once that's ready we'll say goodbye to our current (cramped and packed) office and finally get some room to grow.

And grow we will! We have several job openings at Red Thread Games, and we're currently looking for skilled 3D animators, character artists, and prop/environment artists to join the team. Check out our jobs page for more information.

We've also got some great news for everyone who has backed the project and has been asking for a way to manage their pledge. We've signed a deal with Backerkit and we're rolling out a limited trial this week. If all goes well, we'll be able to invite everyone in the weeks to come, and we can start fulfilling some of the Kickstarter rewards. We'll have more on Backerkit and what this means for you guys very, very soon!

Dreamfall Chapters was recently Greenlit by the Steam community, which means that our backers will be able to get a Steam copy of the game on both PC, Mac & Linux when the time comes. Hurray! We're happy and grateful for your votes, and we're very excited about being on Steam. There are, of course, tons of games still waiting to get the Steam Greenlight, including Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller from our friends at Phoenix Online Studios, and they could certainly use your votes as well.

And speaking of good friends, please check out Among the Sleep, a brilliant first-person horror adventure from our countrymen (and women) at Krillbite Studio, currently in the middle of their very successful Kickstarter. The game is lovely and the team needs another $88,000 in the next 18 days to reach their goal. Please help them out -- they're good peoples, they need your support, and you get a bloody fantastic game in return!

Thanks for your patience, everyone, and please stay tuned for more!

@Eternity: Now that the funding period is over, Kickstarter doesn't allow them to edit the Home page of the project (that's why it's "outdated"). RTG didn't know that either (they figured it out the "hard way", when they went to make changes and saw they couldn't). Quite a "stupid" policy of Kickstarter's if you ask me, since the front page SHOULD be a good place to keep track of the development of a project (and not only through updates).

Nice Cognition shout-out, it's criminal that it's been on the greenlight day 1 and keeps getting passed over; yet newer titles up for barely a week or two (like dreamfall itself..*cough) get through almost instantly somehow.

      Thanks for the update.
On another note, the director's cut stretch goal has been achieved, right? It's better to update that in the main kickstarter page.

      Yes, Zoe update pls.

    11. Andrew Snyder on

      Great update, thanks!

If there are slides from your upcoming presentations that make sense to share out, those would be cool to see.

Also, any update on whether Ellie Conrad Leigh is available to come back and voice Zoe?

    12. Rinu on

Thanks for the update. Peeking Zoe was definitely my favorite part :).
