One last look at our reward tiers

Posted by Red Thread Games (Creator)

As we enter the single-digit hours left on the clock, we wanted to remind everyone one final time about what each tier nets you in terms of rewards and goodies.

For $25 you get...

This tier may be bare-bones, but gets you the one thing that matters the most: Dreamfall Chapters.

For $25 you get a digital download of the game for Windows, Mac and Linux. We hope to be on Steam,, maybe the Mac App Store, and wherever else we need to be. And our plan is to let you play any and all versions.

You also get a bunch of very cool, high-resolution wallpapers. Wallpapers come in a variety of sizes (from 1280x720 up to 2880x1800).

And an Istrum forum badge. Each tier comes with a forum badge, and the badges and accompanying titles change with the tiers.

The official forums are opening very soon. Here you will be able to discuss the game with other fans, and you can interact with the development team, ask questions and offer suggestions.

For an additional $25, you're getting a ton of cool extras. In addition to the game, you'll receive:

A digital copy of Journeys: Birth in various ebook formats (including PDF/EPUB/MOBI). This collection of short stories, written by Ragnar Tørnquist and Dag Scheve, explores some of the key characters in the game, revealing a lot of background information not available anywhere else.

Access to additional and ongoing behind-the-scenes material for the making-of video. You also get the full, unedited, unabridged, uncut version of the making-of video when the game launches. Cussing? Sure. #cannonstroking? Definitely. More blooper reels? Hell, yes.

A digital copy of the official soundtrack in various audio formats, including MP3/MP4/AIF and lossless audio. This soundtrack is going to be epic! You've heard various bits and pieces throughout the campaign, but that's nothing compared to what's ahead. Music has always been an integral part of The Longest Journey saga, and this soundtrack continues the tradition.

The Tome of the Balance, in PDF format. This book is crammed with detailed lore from The Longest Journey universe, drawn from archives and design documents dating all the way back to 1996. The tome also includes drawings, character descriptions, trivia, dark secrets and more.

You also get a super-high-resolution digital Map of Arcadia (including Marcuria and the lands to the south and west, and the islands) with annotations and whatnot.

This map covers the entire (known) world of Arcadia, including Marcuria, and it will contain a TON of cool secrets, Easter eggs, hidden messages and hints to both the past and the future! Plus wondrous pirate treasures, arrr.

AND, in addition to all of that, you also receive one alternative clothing outfit for Zoë Castillo, our star.

For another $25 we're tossing in EARLY ACCESS to the game! Pledgers at this tier and above get to play the game 48 hours before anyone else.

In addition to everything from the $50 tier, you also get a bunch of other neat extras:

A digital copy of Journeys: The Graphic Novel, in PDF and digital comics formats. This graphic novel tells multiple, original stories from The Longest Journey universe, written and illustrated by some amazing writers and artists. and will expand on characters, locations and situations only hinted at in the games -- including a journey back to April Ryan's childhood.

The Art of Dreamfall Chapters, in PDF format. This rich and detailed look at the work done by the artists for Dreamfall Chapters contains concept art, early sketches and renders from the game, as well as comments by the art director and artists.

AND, in addition to all of that, you're also getting a second alternative outfit plus an alternative hairstyle for Zoë Castillo.

This is our first physical tier, and it contains everything above, on a shiny, plastic DVD.

This edition comes in a beautiful slipcase containing a DVD keep case with an instruction manual. The slipcase and keep case feature a unique and beautiful cover designed by art director Christer Sveen.

This tier is the ultimate digital tier, and contains every single one of our digital rewards. In addition to everything from the $75 tier, there are more cool extras.

You get the audiobook version of Journeys: Birth in a variety of audiobook formats, including MP3, MP4 and AIF.

You also get your name in the game's credits, a pretty postcard signed by the development team, along with a third Zoë outfit, a second additional hairstyle, and character accessories.

$200 nets you all the digital goodies from the $150 tier, on a 16GB Wonkers the Watilla USB key.

The next tier up is the Boxed Dreamer Edition, which comes with everything from the $150 tier in a double-wide DVD slipcase with a flip-open cover, featuring art by Christer Sveen. This box is also signed.

In addition to a digital copy of the map, you also get a folded, full-colour paper map for studying, pointing-at and putting-up-on-walls.

And you get the printed paperback edition of Journeys: Birth.

In addition, this box comes with a printed instruction manual.

With this edition, you get everything from the $250 tier, in a signed and numbered Limited Edition box. You also get:

The 16GB Wonkers the Watilla USB key, containing all the digital material from the $150 tier.

You also get the full-colour paperback edition of Journeys: The Graphic Novel.

At this tier, you get everything from the $350 edition, in a box with a fold-out insert containing the game and the soundtrack CD. This box is signed and numbered.

You also get:

Printed, hardcover editions of The Tome of the Balance and The Art of Dreamfall Chapters.

You also get a beautiful cloth map, just like in Ye Olden Days of computer gaming. This is the ultimate map of Arcadia, fit for framing.

The 16GB Wonkers the Watilla USB key, containing all the digital material from the $150 tier.

In addition, you will receive a personal thank-you note from director Ragnar Tørnquist, and a special mention in the game's credits.

This is the ultimate edition of the game!

In addition to everything from the $500 tier, the $750 tier includes a signed piece of concept art by art director Christer Sveen, and a personal thank-you call from director Ragnar Tørnquist.

And beyond...

Every pledge of $1,000 and above includes the $750 boxed edition, along with lots more goodies. Check the sidebar for information about the higher tiers, and take a look at our rewards update from earlier today to see what's been added to the higher tiers since the campaign launched.

Tune in tomorrow!

That's it for today! Please remember our LIVE Kickstarter countdown on TwitchTV, starting at 0900 CET / 8AM GMT / 5AM EDT tomorrow, Sunday March 10th. This broadcast will be accompanied by a reddit AMA with Ragnar Tørnquist and the rest of the team.

Onwards & upwards, one final time!

@Rinu Pretty much, yeah. Rayman is really portable. I've kept it on a thumb drive and taken it to work with me to play during lunch breaks before.

Not saying all of the games that can be launched that way work the same. Rayman is just a really well packaged title on Steam and proves that it's up to the publisher/developer to do so. :)

    2. Rinu on

@Veeno: You can find a list of games you can copy to another PC without client: Mainly indies and less known games.

    3. Midian on

ijm so glad we reached our funding goal for Directors Cut...
please Kickstart Dreamfall Journey Home, when this is through...
ill gladly through money at my screen to make sure that that game is also funded

    4. Rinu on

@Brys: I thought it's worth mentioning. I understand that Rayman is Win-only, so my post was off topic. How does it work when Steam releases an update? Can you just copy-paste files to another PC?
@Anna: I would also like to purchase Tome of Balance alone.

    5. Laila Eikeland Knutsen on

Director's cut! Ooooh yeah!! We rock, people XD
      Is it 2014 yet??

    6. Zdenek "Alcarmo" on

Every story has a beginning and an end...
The kickstarter story is already finished....
but the Dreamfall Chapters story has just started :-)
      Keep dreaming guys
The Balance provides, the Balance the Balance and trust to yourself ;-)

Will more physical copies become available at launch at any time? I, as many other people couldn't afford any physical tier, but I would be very glad if the game could be someday on my physical library, next to the previous ones in the saga.

    8. Anna Versus on

Well, with $ 25 I will have only the digital copy, but it's enough for now. I will buy the "journey births" and the "tome of the balance" in future, if they are released apart from the game...

    9. Carla Waldram on

Upped from $25 to $50, couldn't resist the goodies.

    10. Rezo Kaishauri on

Yep, just upped my pledge this morning and we FREAKING DID IT!!! Congrats, people! :)

    11. Alex Agranov on

I had already upped myself from $25 to $50 to $75. I can lots of other people did the same.

      WE DID IT!!!

    12. Alex Agranov on

The $1.5 million stretch goal made!

    13. Brys on

@Rinu And? What's your point? What does that have to do with what I said or even what I was replying to?

    14. White Destiny on

      $22,000 to go. 22.5k backers.

If each backer adds $10 to their pledge, we've got the director's cut!

Remember you can buy a digital copy of TLJ for $10, so if you don't own it already, get yourself a copy, and get us to 1.5 million!

    15. Rinu on

@Brys: I recently helped a person *troubleshooting* . He wanted a certain game only available on Steam. His Mac at home didn't have an access to internet. His Windows PC at work was connected to very fast Internet. Guess what. He couldn't get to play it at home because Steam would download only Windows files.

    16. Yawhann Chong on

I have no idea how I missed this Kickstarter since I've been wanting Dreamfall Chapters ever since I played TLJ and Dreamfall years ago. Thanks to Ragnar for resurrecting this!

I was going to put down $75, but decided to put down $110 since I own the special edition of Dreamfall, so it'll look nice next to it on my shelf!

@Veeno Short of FRAPSing myself launching the game though, the only "proof" is in other users confirming it:

why would you have to restart the pc if there was no protection in the game....dosnt make sence to me at all....ive own many unprotected games and you install them and restarting of pc at all.

    20. Matt Combes on

I caved and sprung from $75 to $110 for the physical copy, since it includes all the other digital stuff anyway, so I can keep it as a pristine collector's item while feasting on all the goodies it holds on my computer.

We've been doing really awesome this last day, the updates have been awesome and likely helped quite a bit with this last push. I was very doubtful we'd reach $1.5m with Kickstarter alone (I figured we'd hit it with PayPal added in), but now ... it's actually somewhat possible. We still might not make it, but if not it'll probably be by just a few thousand. No matter which way you cut it, it's pretty certain we'll get that Director's Cut.

I was at $500 and added on 2 t-shirts and that was really a "Strech Goal" for me!

      Anne Karine Kant on

Just updated my pledge from 50 to 75$. Wish I could have pledged more, but sadly that's as high as I can go.

    24. Brys on

@Veeno Short of FRAPSing myself launching the game though, the only "proof" is in other users confirming it:…

    25. Brys on

@Veeno Rayman Origins on Steam is totally DRM free and can be launched independent of the client running. I own it and have done so. There's plenty of others as well, it's just not done very often.

    26. roman bugrov on

Would have loved to get physical copy of the artbook as an addon... A bit jump from $110 to $500 for me :(

    27. Kevin on

Is there somewhere we can see what has been pledged via Paypal? I'd really like to know if we're anywhere close to the stretch goals...

    28. Kevin on

Just upped my pledge from $50 to $75. Here's hoping that others do the same and we get to the $2mil mark. I really want them to get an early start on TLJ Home!

    29. Missing avatar

      Svein-André Randen on

I am, upgraded with 80$ as we speak!

    30. Jonathan Miley on

So if everyone increases their pledge by a dollar, we'll give RTG an additional $20,000. This will knock it over the $1.5mil and we'll get the director's cuts. Who's with me?!?!

    31. Missing avatar

      Carlos Cuevas on

I'd upgrade my pledge from $20 to $50 for the graphic novel and art book, but those are only available at $75. I hope those will be released independent of this campaign.

    32. Archon on

Damn, I've struggled all day to not upgrade my pledge. But you got me with this one.
Bye bye Early bird, I miss you already. And welcome Digital Special Edition...
That's a big leap, don't make me regret it RTG :D

    33. Veeno on

      @ Giorgos Chrysikopoulos
I don't know about that, nor do I have any games on Steam which I can play without having Steam running, so I won't believe that unless someone can provide a valid source which confirms it.

    34. Anna F. on

Same here, really interested into the art book ! Hope it'll be available. Only could go up to 50$ (so won"t even get the digital version *sad*)

    35. André Stv on

It was a good ride so far accompanying you guys on this project. This is the first project I backed (mostly because now I have a job), and there couldn't be a better one - The Longest Journey series is one of my favorites, having one of the better writings of the game medium in my opinion. It's for sure my most awaited sequel and I have to admit that I cursed at Mr. Tornquist sometimes - but now it's real and with a lot of cool extra content :D
The Director's Cut is so close! I'm at the limit of my budget right now, but I wish all the luck to RTG. I probably won't be here for the livestream, so see you at the forums :D

    36. Missing avatar

      Jason Perkins on

Yes, I am with the previous commenters: I would purchase the art book (printed not PDF) if you made it available, through PayPal or whatever, especially if it also helped fund the higher goals.

    37. Giorgos Chrysikopoulos - Dream Traveller on

@Veeno:I think some people have said that Steam can be used only as a download manager, if the game's creator wishes for it, aka used only for you to download (and re-download) your game, but it can run without even having to even open Steam afterwards. I haven't confirmed that myself, but a few people said it can be so (and I assume that's what TheChosenOne refers to)

    38. Veeno on

      @ TheChosenOne
Actually, technically it can't, because games you purchase on Steam are always tied directly to your Steam account. That's a form of DRM.

    39. Missing avatar

      Zy on

Glad to see that you are so close to the Director's Cut goal and have high hopes that we will reach that mark. I do hope the Kickstarter was not too stressful for you guys and had a lot of fun doing this. It's been a great 30 days and really can't wait for 2014 to hit. My birthday was on the 6th and seeing the updates just added to the great day I had with friends and family that evening (apologize if this sounds selfish). I am looking forward to any other stories no matter the media you will create for yourself and to fans.

Thank you for all your hard work and accomplishments, very much appreciated.

    40. TheChosenOne on

Steam can be DRM free aswell. Be informed a bit more people. ;)

    41. Giorgos Chrysikopoulos - Dream Traveller on

@Rinu: Yes, as Jamil said they had already confirmed it earlier today on some of the update's comments I think (and frankly, there couldn't be any other way anyway, in my opinion, it would cause even greater controversy - and bad feelings - that the "issue that must not be named".)

    42. Rinu on

Update: Ragnar just confirmed on Twitter that they indeed plan to release all OS versions on DVD and download. :3

    43. Red Thread Games Creator on

And please keep in mind that we got the timezone thing wrong (it's late, we're tired) so the broadcast begins at 4AM EDT, NOT 5AM! The other times are still correct. But for those of you in North America, please note the time -- and remember that you're switching your clocks one hour forward tonight!

    44. Red Thread Games Creator on

@David Kononen: We haven't nailed down those specs yet, unfortunately. This will be a high-quality print, since our art director does all his work digitally. The print will be ready for framing, and will be a unique drawing not available anywhere else.

    45. Red Thread Games Creator on

The box art is NOT final! These are just mock-up boxes to show which direction we're going in. The boxes will have completely new and original art when we ship the game.

    46. Elaine Morgan on

Sigh, I really, really want the art book, but I can't afford any of the printed art book tiers. :o(

    47. Sam Mellor

Argh! So many awesome tiers. Sadly I lack the finances to pledge any higher than $25 this week :( Stupid electricity bill.

Will there be a chance for people to upgrade their pledge after the campaign? I'd dearly love to offer more money once my finances have improved.

    48. David Kononen on

I would still like to know about concept art, it's what holding me back from that level. Will it be a print? original? framed, size? I was hoping during the 30 day it would have be explained a little more...

    49. Rinu on

Sorry, it was supposed to be @Jamil instead of Jamill (talk about excitement) ^_^;.

    50. Rinu on

@Jamill: Really? I missed these comments. So if I go for boxed edition, I won't have to decide which OS I want to be tied to it? Oh my gosh, if that's real, I'm upping my pledge right away.
