@Rinu Pretty much, yeah. Rayman is really portable. I've kept it on a thumb drive and taken it to work with me to play during lunch breaks before.
Not saying all of the games that can be launched that way work the same. Rayman is just a really well packaged title on Steam and proves that it's up to the publisher/developer to do so. :)
@Veeno: You can find a list of games you can copy to another PC without client: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_drmfree_games_on_steam/page1 Mainly indies and less known games.
ijm so glad we reached our funding goal for Directors Cut...
please Kickstart Dreamfall Journey Home, when this is through...
ill gladly through money at my screen to make sure that that game is also funded
@Brys: I thought it's worth mentioning. I understand that Rayman is Win-only, so my post was off topic. How does it work when Steam releases an update? Can you just copy-paste files to another PC?
@Anna: I would also like to purchase Tome of Balance alone.
Director's cut! Ooooh yeah!! We rock, people XD
Is it 2014 yet??
Every story has a beginning and an end...
The kickstarter story is already finished....
but the Dreamfall Chapters story has just started :-)
Keep dreaming guys
The Balance provides, the Balance protects....trust the Balance and trust to yourself ;-)
Will more physical copies become available at launch at any time? I, as many other people couldn't afford any physical tier, but I would be very glad if the game could be someday on my physical library, next to the previous ones in the saga.
Well, with $ 25 I will have only the digital copy, but it's enough for now. I will buy the "journey births" and the "tome of the balance" in future, if they are released apart from the game...
Upped from $25 to $50, couldn't resist the goodies.
Yep, just upped my pledge this morning and we FREAKING DID IT!!! Congrats, people! :)
I had already upped myself from $25 to $50 to $75. I can lots of other people did the same.
WE DID IT!!!
The $1.5 million stretch goal made!
@Rinu And? What's your point? What does that have to do with what I said or even what I was replying to?
$22,000 to go. 22.5k backers.
If each backer adds $10 to their pledge, we've got the director's cut!
Remember you can buy a digital copy of TLJ for $10, so if you don't own it already, get yourself a copy, and get us to 1.5 million!
@Brys: I recently helped a person *troubleshooting* . He wanted a certain game only available on Steam. His Mac at home didn't have an access to internet. His Windows PC at work was connected to very fast Internet. Guess what. He couldn't get to play it at home because Steam would download only Windows files.
I have no idea how I missed this Kickstarter since I've been wanting Dreamfall Chapters ever since I played TLJ and Dreamfall years ago. Thanks to Ragnar for resurrecting this!
I was going to put down $75, but decided to put down $110 since I own the special edition of Dreamfall, so it'll look nice next to it on my shelf!
Just put down 750 bucks. Man I hope this game is good :P
That mesmerizing Draic Kin box...so lovely..so beautiful...so dreamy....Who cares about asses with Dat BOX! *slips away into happy thoughts of wonderful physical goodness*

@Veeno Short of FRAPSing myself launching the game though, the only "proof" is in other users confirming it: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php…
why would you have to restart the pc if there was no protection in the game....dosnt make sence to me at all....ive own many unprotected games and you install them and play...no restarting of pc at all.
I caved and sprung from $75 to $110 for the physical copy, since it includes all the other digital stuff anyway, so I can keep it as a pristine collector's item while feasting on all the goodies it holds on my computer.
We've been doing really awesome this last day, the updates have been awesome and likely helped quite a bit with this last push. I was very doubtful we'd reach $1.5m with Kickstarter alone (I figured we'd hit it with PayPal added in), but now ... it's actually somewhat possible. We still might not make it, but if not it'll probably be by just a few thousand. No matter which way you cut it, it's pretty certain we'll get that Director's Cut.
I was at $500 and added on 2 t-shirts and that was really a "Strech Goal" for me!
Already pledged 250, although I really want the 500....but cant afford ):
Just updated my pledge from 50 to 75$. Wish I could have pledged more, but sadly that's as high as I can go.
@Veeno Rayman Origins on Steam is totally DRM free and can be launched independent of the client running. I own it and have done so. There's plenty of others as well, it's just not done very often.
Would have loved to get physical copy of the artbook as an addon... A bit jump from $110 to $500 for me :(
Is there somewhere we can see what has been pledged via Paypal? I'd really like to know if we're anywhere close to the stretch goals...
Just upped my pledge from $50 to $75. Here's hoping that others do the same and we get to the $2mil mark. I really want them to get an early start on TLJ Home!
I am, upgraded with 80$ as we speak!
So if everyone increases their pledge by a dollar, we'll give RTG an additional $20,000. This will knock it over the $1.5mil and we'll get the director's cuts. Who's with me?!?!
I'd upgrade my pledge from $20 to $50 for the graphic novel and art book, but those are only available at $75. I hope those will be released independent of this campaign.
Damn, I've struggled all day to not upgrade my pledge. But you got me with this one.
Bye bye Early bird, I miss you already. And welcome Digital Special Edition...
That's a big leap, don't make me regret it RTG :D
@ Giorgos Chrysikopoulos
I don't know about that, nor do I have any games on Steam which I can play without having Steam running, so I won't believe that unless someone can provide a valid source which confirms it.
Same here, really interested into the art book ! Hope it'll be available. Only could go up to 50$ (so won"t even get the digital version *sad*)
It was a good ride so far accompanying you guys on this project. This is the first project I backed (mostly because now I have a job), and there couldn't be a better one - The Longest Journey series is one of my favorites, having one of the better writings of the game medium in my opinion. It's for sure my most awaited sequel and I have to admit that I cursed at Mr. Tornquist sometimes - but now it's real and with a lot of cool extra content :D
The Director's Cut is so close! I'm at the limit of my budget right now, but I wish all the luck to RTG. I probably won't be here for the livestream, so see you at the forums :D
Yes, I am with the previous commenters: I would purchase the art book (printed not PDF) if you made it available, through PayPal or whatever, especially if it also helped fund the higher goals.
@Veeno:I think some people have said that Steam can be used only as a download manager, if the game's creator wishes for it, aka used only for you to download (and re-download) your game, but it can run without even having to even open Steam afterwards. I haven't confirmed that myself, but a few people said it can be so (and I assume that's what TheChosenOne refers to)
Actually, technically it can't, because games you purchase on Steam are always tied directly to your Steam account. That's a form of DRM.
Glad to see that you are so close to the Director's Cut goal and have high hopes that we will reach that mark. I do hope the Kickstarter was not too stressful for you guys and had a lot of fun doing this. It's been a great 30 days and really can't wait for 2014 to hit. My birthday was on the 6th and seeing the updates just added to the great day I had with friends and family that evening (apologize if this sounds selfish). I am looking forward to any other stories no matter the media you will create for yourself and to fans.
Thank you for all your hard work and accomplishments, very much appreciated.
Steam can be DRM free aswell. Be informed a bit more people. ;)
@Rinu: Yes, as Jamil said they had already confirmed it earlier today on some of the update's comments I think (and frankly, there couldn't be any other way anyway, in my opinion, it would cause even greater controversy - and bad feelings - that the "issue that must not be named".)
Update: Ragnar just confirmed on Twitter that they indeed plan to release all OS versions on DVD and download. :3
And please keep in mind that we got the timezone thing wrong (it's late, we're tired) so the broadcast begins at 4AM EDT, NOT 5AM! The other times are still correct. But for those of you in North America, please note the time -- and remember that you're switching your clocks one hour forward tonight!
@David Kononen: We haven't nailed down those specs yet, unfortunately. This will be a high-quality print, since our art director does all his work digitally. The print will be ready for framing, and will be a unique drawing not available anywhere else.
The box art is NOT final! These are just mock-up boxes to show which direction we're going in. The boxes will have completely new and original art when we ship the game.
Sigh, I really, really want the art book, but I can't afford any of the printed art book tiers. :o(
Argh! So many awesome tiers. Sadly I lack the finances to pledge any higher than $25 this week :( Stupid electricity bill.
Will there be a chance for people to upgrade their pledge after the campaign? I'd dearly love to offer more money once my finances have improved.
I would still like to know about concept art, it's what holding me back from that level. Will it be a print? original? framed, size? I was hoping during the 30 day it would have be explained a little more...
Sorry, it was supposed to be @Jamil instead of Jamill (talk about excitement) ^_^;.
@Jamill: Really? I missed these comments. So if I go for boxed edition, I won't have to decide which OS I want to be tied to it? Oh my gosh, if that's real, I'm upping my pledge right away.
