Mini-update: The Spoken Word Achieved! Wallpapers! New tiers!

THE SPOKEN WORD ACHIEVED!

Lovers of dialogue, and French and German fans rejoice! It's been a fantastic day and we've just passed $1,250,000 and our latest stretch goal! WIN!

To show our love and appreciation for your continued support and generosity, we bring wallpapers! Featuring everyone's favourite crow, Crow!

For a ton of different sizes, click here

New tiers!

Due to the enormous popularity of our $1,000 tiers, we've added TWO new ones today:

UNREAL WORLD! Become a participant on the biggest reality show of the future! Your name and likeness will be used for in-game video commercials for the show! In addition, you will receive a special Eurotrash listing in the game's credits!

and

THE PUPPETMASTER! Become a finger puppet in Roper Klacks' popular new puppet-show, THE FINGERINGS! Your name and general likeness will be used to create a finger puppet! In addition, you will receive a special Puppeteered listing in the game's credits!

If Most Wanted was anything to go by, these will disappear fast, and they're both limited to ten pledgers. After all, even Klacks only has ten fingers.

We can't wait to turn some of you guys into reality-show contestants and finger puppets. It's really a win-win scenario!

THE DIRECTOR'S CUT IS NEXT!

And you know we can do it, so help us spread the word in the days to come!

The Director's Cut brings back a number of things we had to cut in order to whittle our budget down, including a couple of locations, some intriguing characters and conversations, a number of smaller scenes and intimate moments, a few puzzles, a bunch of minor story beats, and a hatful of funsies.

This stretch goal, seeing as it is a proper Director's Cut, also includes a commentary track, featuring creative director Ragnar Tørnquist along with other key developers!

Thanks again, everyone! Oh, and remember to check out Torment: Tides of Numenera from the great guys at inXile. They're doing pretty well so far, having passed our total in less than twelve hours, so I'm not sure they need our help -- but the game is definitely worth a look-see regardless!

Onwards & upwards, for another few days!

Full sized Wonkers plushies should be available too. Either as a tier or add-on... Hopefully as an add-on, coz say it costs $50 to make a profit.... I could dish out another $60 for a Wonkers plush...

    2. Matthew Yeager on March 8, 2013

Even if we don't make 1.5mil... Could we please have a director's cut eventually?

    3. Liam Bourret-Nyffeler on March 7, 2013

@Tore, that is a good point. Hahaha

    4. Sarah | Draic Kin on March 7, 2013

@William lol I see what you did there ;)

    5. Rezo Kaishauri on March 7, 2013

And by pure I meant poor of course. :D

    6. Rezo Kaishauri on March 7, 2013

C'mon folks, we can absolutely make the $1,500,000 happen, and you know it! I myself was amazed how much more I was able to squeeze from my pure budget. And I'll be squeezing some more in these final days of the campaign. It's easy, you should try it! Dollar here, 5 dollars there... That's all it takes! Christ, I suck at motivational speeches...

    7. Jeff Willis on March 7, 2013

@Jamil - Yeah that's what I was hoping! I wish I had thought of suggesting it earlier in the campaign.

    8. Jamil Ismaili | Eternal Dreamer AoUA on March 7, 2013

@Deanthony Potts Read the $1,000 "Puppetmaster" Teir :)

    9. Jamil Ismaili | Eternal Dreamer AoUA on March 7, 2013

@Jeff Willis That sounds a neat idea ! RTG read all the threads so perhaps they'll consider something like that, so long as it's cost effective

    10. Giorgos Chrysikopoulos - Dream Traveller on March 7, 2013

@Modokameg: With the stretch goal achieved (and after an agreement they made with a Polish distributor, CD Projekt) the game will certainly be in: English, Norwegian, German, French and Polish. They will try to make similar arrangements with local distributors/publishers for the game to appear in other languages as well (Spanish, Russian, Italian, and every other language The Longest Journey and Dreamfall were on) but they can't promise those versions yet with certainty.

    11. Modokameg on March 7, 2013

Okay so, someone could be explain what is, German and french versions ?
That mean if this goald haven't be reach, the game has been in english version only ????

    12. Jeff Willis on March 7, 2013

So I know it's kind of late for this kind of thing (only 66 hours to go!) but I thought it would be neat if one of the tiers could add a postcard signed by the voice cast as well as the development staff.

    13. Deanthony Potts on March 7, 2013

@William Give fans the finger? How so?

    14. Andrew Moore on March 7, 2013

Nice wallpaper but why no 2560x1440? :-(

    15. Shaun Davies on March 7, 2013

      The best wallpaper.

William Walsh - Dream Traveller on March 7, 2013

It occurs to me that this might be the first Kickstarter campaign in which the developer has given the fans the finger. Ten times over, at that. :-)

    17. Guillaume - WereSheep of the Dreamers
      Superbacker
      on March 7, 2013

@Audrey: There are 2 graphic novels. One is for backers and according to home page: "This graphic novel will tell multiple stories from The Longest Journey universe, and will expand on characters, locations and situations only hinted at in the games -- including a journey back to April Ryan's childhood. The graphic novel will be made available before the launch of the game in 2014." This is an extra content like others books are.

The second one is the stretch goal gained at 1.1M$, and will be available for everyone as part of the game. (I think as an opening to the game, but the form is not confirmed yet). It will remind important events we've seen in TLJ and Dreamfall. This is the one you're thinking about.

    18. Audrey Winter on March 7, 2013

Please explain again the Interactive Novel (TLJ and TLJ:Dreamfall); I thought it was a stretch goal, now turns out that we have to pay extra for it. How does that go together?
Don't get me wrong, I would pledge $1000 for this, if I could, but I'm very poor and can't do that. But I thought the stretch goals were for everyone. And I really need it to make my hubby play Dreamfall. :P

    19. Moeez Siddiqui on March 7, 2013

I needs that developer commentary, I needs it!

If you guys want an example of the best in a game, play Alan Wake on PC. Video-in-video.

    20. Dag-Erling Smørgrav on March 7, 2013

Can we get a 2560x1440 version of that wallpaper?

    21. Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on March 7, 2013

Regarding the raunchy humor: I'm picturing the RTG people brainstorming and having so much fun xD I love this kind of humor as well, and I second Cyberbard's naughty bard!

    22. Rezo Kaishauri on March 7, 2013

Congrats, everyone! And we still have time to make the next goal reality. Let's press it!

    23. Cyberbard | Shift Happens on March 7, 2013

I demand a bard who does nothing but stand on the corner and sing naughty songs. :-)

    24. Tom Brückner on March 7, 2013

Regarding the fingering: I would appreciate DFC including some adult content, this would fit the overall scenery quite nicely. Maybe in a special edition?

    25. Tom Brückner on March 7, 2013

Like the wallpaper. Maybe you could also build a vertical version for mobile use? Regarding Torment: I'm not into RPGs, but this particular one really looks interesting. And the kickstarter campaign is just crazy, 1.5m in only 12 hours.

    26. Leo on March 7, 2013

New wallpaper is a dream come true for my desktop!! Really happy to have reached this stretch goal as I'm a great fan of dialogue!
Now on to the Directors Cut!

    27. Christian Page on March 7, 2013

is it going to be comintary like in valve games or more like the comintary that came with fear dc
      incase you dont know
valve has a comentary mode with nodes set up that talk about that area or just stuff in genrel

fear had a video that was the creators playing through the game

i prtefer valves way but ill like it eather way

    28. Tore Mygland ~~Dream Traveller~~ $6.13 on March 7, 2013

@Liam: Knowing Ragnar, I'm sure it was 100% intentional... Who could forget "The Cock and Puss" and "The Salty Seamen"?

    29. Heimdall - DreamT-WoOS-ShadRun-KC:D-DOoD on March 7, 2013

      @Amanda Keith

Well a $13 is a reasonable ammount but many of us have gone from like $25 tier to $500 tier or $250 tier to the new $1000 tiers. But as you say can we pledge a bit more then we would be golden. However not everyone reads the comments, so getting to all the backers is a tough challenge. I do like your enthusiasm though and I share your passion to reach this 1,5 mill mark and get a game as adventure packed as possible! Keep up that passion fellow Dreamfallian!

    30. Liam Bourret-Nyffeler on March 6, 2013

I have to agree with those that have gone before. I'm sure this want 100% unintentional but "the fingerings" has some unfortunate double meaning issues.
Congrats on your progress so far though. I've been dying to see chapters for so long and now we're finally on our way :)

      Whoo-hoo for the spoken word!!!!

Now of course we're all salivating over the Director's Cut, here's some fun math:

If every backer could up their bid by $13, we would have our director's cut..(.to get to $2 million, it's up the bid by $40, but that's a bit unrealistic for a lot of us out there)

What do you say to $13? The directors cut will be ours!!! :D

      SKiller on March 6, 2013

A new Dreamfall and now a new Torment game? Welp.. now I just have to wait until they're released and I can die happy. All evidence to the contrary, there has to be something *seriously* right with a world where this is happening.

Planescape: Torment story? You bet! That is one of my top 5 PC games!
Star Control 2, The Longest Journey, Wing Commander Series, Planescape: Torment...

    35. Andrew on March 6, 2013

I demand wallpaper with resolutions 2560x1440+!!

      André on March 6, 2013

Two new languages is really good, but i would like to ask another thing.
In Brazil there are groups that translate games to brazilian portuguese, the translations are usually good, but the process to install is (usually) a mess, patching binaries, broken update, etc.
So i would like to ask, if possible, to make the "third party translation" more simple (easy way to add a language, UTF8 font, etc.)

    37. Heimdall - DreamT-WoOS-ShadRun-KC:D-DOoD on March 6, 2013

      @RTG

I like raunchy humor. I hope we get quite a few of them in Dreamfall Chapters. I'm so stoked about getting the spoken word!! Now for the extremely interesting part the 1,5 mill mark -- Ragnar's Cut!!

    38. Red Thread Games Creator on March 6, 2013

@Don Reba: That's sort of the joke. There is raunchy humour in Dreamfall, and Roper Klacks is a strange, strange man.

Thank you sooooo much for the wallpaper, like others mine was up within seconds!!

    40. Gareth Evans on March 6, 2013

I really hope that the directors cut stretch goal is achieved.

    41. someone on March 6, 2013

Upping my pledge as a thank you for the torment shout out. Shows serious class.

    42. Don Reba on March 6, 2013

@Gavin Cramblet - I am still playing Dreamfall. I just saw the Salty Seaman tavern yesterday and, I have to admit, did not recognize the pun.

Torment is fine as is, if anything Project Awakened needed a plug. Too late now though =(

Here's hoping for that commentry track, though If i'm understanding correctly post kickstarter Paypal pledges also contribute to these stretch goals?

    44. Heimdall - DreamT-WoOS-ShadRun-KC:D-DOoD on March 6, 2013

Then we need that bondage scene with Zöe, April and/or Kian most of us in the comments have talked about for a few days. We have had quite a few suggestions over at the general comment sction mind you. :)

    45. Sarah | Draic Kin on March 6, 2013

Also, thank you for the crow wallpaper! Switched over to it immediately, it looks great :)

    46. RoyMartin on March 6, 2013

Congrats on the Spoken Word! That's grand!

@Don - I'm pretty sure they thought that through ;)

    47. Sarah | Draic Kin on March 6, 2013

I love the fingerings name! This really will be an adult game :D or at least, have a bit of adult humor. Awesome!

Gavin Cramblet on March 6, 2013

For those who think the 'Fingerings' name was unintentional and needs to be changed, do you remember the names of the taverns in Dreamfall? The Salty Seaman and The Cock and Puss?

    49. Heimdall - DreamT-WoOS-ShadRun-KC:D-DOoD on March 6, 2013

Yes!! Alright!! We did it! I'm overjoyed!! Got that wallpaper on within 7 seconds. Crow is great! Yes I really do want the Director's cut!! It is the one I really want now!! Lets make it happen people!! I belive in you and in RTG!

Wow Torment has skyrocketed. Well most gamers, well us older gamers say this game is among the best RPGs ever made so no wonder they are getting a ton of cash to roll around in.

Well The Longest Journey series is among th best adventure games of all time so we need more pledges but at the same time I'm very happy that we are at this stage of the game funding process.

To me The Longest Journey is the second best game I have ever played in over 25 years. Dreamfall Chapters is at a steady lucky number 7 for me on my Top 25 best games of all time list.
