Dreamfall Chapters is the long-awaited sequel to acclaimed PC adventure games The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
21,858 backers pledged $1,538,425 to help bring this project to life.

We made it! $850K! Dreamfall Chapters is funded!

In just over ONE week, we've already reached our target, and Dreamfall Chapters is GO! This is all thanks to you, our fans and friends and supporters. Because of your generosity, your enthusiasm, your tireless dedication, the story will continue and this game is no longer just a beautiful dream: it's real!

And now it's OUR time to deliver. We promise to make the best game we can possibly make, one that lives up to your expectations and the legacy of The Longest Journey saga. A game that we can all be proud of. A game worthy of your generous pledges. And we'll keep you involved, every step of the way.

But first: stretch goals!

Coming up at $900,000 we have the Mac and Linux versions. At $950,000 we have The Loremaster. And at ONE MILLION DOLLARS we have A Longer Journey. We'll reveal more stretch goals as we go along -- and we'll also reveal more exciting details about our ULTIMATE stretch goal, The Longest Journey Home.

Thank you all again for your amazing support. We can't believe we've managed to pass our target so quickly! We have three exciting weeks left until the campaign is over, and we have a TON of cool stuff coming up, including a look at a BRAND NEW location next week, more videos, more concept art, more screenshots, more gameplay, more of EVERYTHING. So please stick around, it's going to be great fun!

Are there any plans to sell a big soft stuffed version of Wonkers, the same size as he was in the game?

    2. Creator Oriane DUMONT on February 18, 2013

For TLJH it will be fun to play the memories's Avril like flash-backs, in 2D. Included in Dreamfall Chapters. But it's complicated... I don't believe this.

    3. Creator Giuseppe Puglisi on February 18, 2013

Is there a chance Zoe's face will be re-modeled to make her look prettier and more faithful to the original?

    4. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 17, 2013

@Johannes, didn't see your reply until now but thanks for the clarification. It had me so confused! I guess I'm lucky that it apparently works with Norwegian cards, since it would have made me quite angry :) When I think about it, it is probably because there is no Amazon.no-page...

    5. Creator Jeff Carroll on February 17, 2013

Congratulations, guys! I'm really happy for you, and looking forward to the game.

    6. Creator VoodooFX on February 17, 2013

I wonder at what point will they reveal more about TLJH?
Probably small hints until the counter reaches around 1.5M, then more and more as they come nearer to 2M.
I wonder if in the end they'll give us the whole picture behind TLJH, even if the goal is not met (which is very probable I'm afraid) - you know, just to rub in some salt on the wound :)

    7. Creator Finn Bradford on February 17, 2013

Hell yes! I'm so glad everyone out there wants this game to happen as much as I do! TLJ and Dreamfall are my favourite games ever!

I reckon I'm going to have to drop by Red Thread's office when I'm on holiday this summer, see if I can spy on them and see how it's going :D

    8. Creator Anne Karine Kant on February 17, 2013

Yes, yes, yes, yes! Finally! So excited for this, and for everyone involved (developers and backers alike).

    9. Creator Yvonne Larsen on February 17, 2013

@Markus: Well it's not *just* a different build, they have to test it and provide support as well.

    10. Creator Markus Hofer on February 17, 2013

You need $50.000,- to select a different build-target in Unity? ;)

    11. Creator Alexander Lyakhov on February 17, 2013

      Congratulations!
The one of the best quest ever made is truly deserves the sequel.

    12. Creator AgentGrasshopper |OotG| Dream Traveller on February 17, 2013

Congratulations! I'm extremely thrilled that there'll be another game from this universe and that we'll finally learn what happens to everyone after the events of Dreamfall. Now, let's get those stretch goals because TLJH has me rather curious. :D

    13. Creator Giuseppe Puglisi on February 17, 2013

Congrats! It was just a matter of time, and now fingers crossed for the 1 million goal!

    14. Creator Galanthein on February 17, 2013

Congratulations team. The longest journey is the best game in its category i ever played. I have wonderful memories of it when i was younger. You can't imagine how thrilled i am that a third (and i hope not final) episode is on the way !
      Thanks !

    15. Creator Thomas Schwarz on February 17, 2013

      Congratulations! This is wonderful!

    16. Creator Disposable hero on February 17, 2013

Congrats ! I was very sad because of the end and dreamfall
I feel relieve now that I'm sure he Journey continue
Thanks to you to give us a dream made of reality ! (or a reality made of dream ? ;) )

    17. Creator Johannes 'Waldgeist' Rebhan on February 17, 2013

@Tina We have the same. Direct Debit cards, that deduct the amount purchased directly from our bank accounts. "EC" cards basically. But for some reason Amazon Payments doesn't allow us to use those for the Amazon Payments account. I can use it when I purchase goods from amazon.de, but not from amazon.com. I sense they just want to lower the amount of people, that are able to purchase outside of Germany, because Amazon has absolutely CRAZY higher prices in Germany compared to other countries in Europe (for game, DVDs etc.. the mass goods).

@Elfwyn Yes you're right. The 21 days could just be enough to jump on board. It takes 1 week at least to upload money. I still find it handy, because most international credit cards have a fee per year of about 20-40EURs and I only upload money on wirecard once per year, which makes the fee 1 EUR. I can live with that much better, than with a credit card, thats hard wired into my bank account and exposes me to the risk of credit card theft etc. On wirecard I loose what I've uploaded, not more.

    18. Creator Jonathan Ramsden on February 17, 2013

The Longest Journey is one of the last great IPs of gaming and I am thrilled to back it. I can't wait to finally see more of Zoe's story and be transported back to the words of Stark and Arcadia. It's going to be great guys!

    19. Creator Rezo Kaishauri on February 17, 2013

Congratulations, everyone! Now I'm waiting for the end of the month, when many people, myself included, are going to receive their monthly wages. Hopefully, that will bring more pledge updates (I know I will update mine) and even new pledges from potential backers. So far we've been doing great, but there's still much work to do. Good luck to us all! :)

    20. Creator HumanGames (deleted) on February 17, 2013

      Congratulations,
you deserve it to become a reality and we all deserve to play another one of your fantastic games^_^
      Game on!

    21. Creator Valeriy on February 17, 2013

Finally! Now I'm able to pledge for Linux (not interested in any other version).

    22. Creator Esker on February 17, 2013

Congrats guys! Very happy to see this game funded, TLJ has been my favourite adventure game ever since it came out, and quite possibly my favourite game full stop.

Is there any chance of the maps becoming an addon or being available separately after the Kickstarter is done? I'd dearly love to have one but simply can't afford to go up to one of the levels that get it.

    23. Creator Yik Boon Tan on February 17, 2013

Looking at the art of TLJH - it's April Ryan's original art from TLJ with some color tweaks. So it looked like a game about April Ryan. Attire-wise it doesn't look like the April from Dreamfall, but certainly looked like it's from TLJ, which suggests that this takes place between TLJ and Dreamfall. Furthermore, Ragnar has mentioned they might make further games involving that middle part of the saga and also the possibly the War of the Balance.

So a game about April's journey in between TLJ and Dreamfall I'd reckon.

    24. Creator Mark Zimmerman on February 16, 2013

How tall is Ragnar? He's towering over Dag and Martin. Or is there some "forced perspective" work going on here?

    25. Creator Azfar Islam on February 16, 2013

Yay! Now please, can we get a Longer Journey, and for the Mac? :)

    26. Creator Roxane Tourigny on February 16, 2013

Congrats! Now I want it for Mac.

    27. Creator Nick Kavalieris on February 16, 2013

Congratulations! Now, that the game is funded let's head for the next target! 900k ! ( I would really like the penguin version :D )

    28. Creator Daniel J Day | Unreal World on February 16, 2013

Oh Happy Days! I can rest a little easier now, knowing this is all real. Congratz Everybody! :)

    29. Creator thelj on February 16, 2013

To anyone who wants to pledge and doesn't own a credit card:You can get a prepaid card.It works like a virtual card but it's physical.I got mine very easily (that depends on the country and the bank of course ).I went to the bank and in less than half an hour i got the card, loaded exactly the amount of money i wanted, went home and made my pledge.Simple. :)

    30. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

@Erika: I see. I just tried to imagine doing daily things like grocery shopping without the bank card, as I would have to go to a bank to get the money. I guess there might be cards without the visa part though, as I had before I turned 18 many years ago (couldn't buy online then), but visa was automatically included on my bank account after that. I would have to pay extra for getting a card I could overdraw though. And my paypal is directly linked to my bank account I think, but to establish that link I had to use the card number etc. Anyway, not important, I'm just a curious person.

    31. Creator Mariano Iglesias on February 16, 2013

Yes! a dream come true! If you'd have told me this a few months ago I wouldn't have believed it

    32. Creator Gal Shemesh on February 16, 2013

CONGRATULATIONS GUYS! I didn't have even the tiny doubt that this project will be fully funded - I JUST KNEW IT WOULD FROM THE VERY BEGINNING! Thanks KICKSTARTER! Thanks everyone for supporting! :)

    33. Creator Erika Eby | Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

You can link paypal directly to a back account; that's why some people can only pay with that.

Alternatively, you can pay via a balance that you may have in your account from online business. Some people only spend money that they make from say, selling stuff on Etsy, on hobbies. I believe there are also other ways of loading money into paypal.

    34. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

Also; need that card in order for paypal to work as well, so again, I don't see the difference?

    35. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

Do you germans only use cash for payment normally then? Because I don't have a credit card, only a debit card (or what it's called), which is connected to my bank account. That works fine with the amazon payments, and it's included in all normal bank accounts here in Norway (with a ~$30 fee once a year or something). I'm just curious about how it works for you guys.

    36. Creator Elfwyn on February 16, 2013

      @Johannes
I don't want to be negative, but I made a mywirecard mastercard account for kickstarter too and it took 2 to 3 weeks for my first transaction to appear on the mastercard profile - too late for the kickstarter it was supposed to be for :-(.
Although transactions with this system DO WORK, please expect any transaction of money toward that account to take at least 1 week. Customer support is not responsive in my experience.
Because I do not use paypal since the wikileaks thing I got myself a real credit card for amazon payments.
Still got the Wirecard too, because its would be a pain to cancel it.

    37. Creator Oskar Pålsgård on February 16, 2013

the strech goals are really, really stupid! it's like pre launch dlc, how about you make this game and make it really good and we can talk about funding TLJ:H if you can prove that you can do this without FunCom.

    38. Creator Alfred Lui on February 16, 2013

So happy that I am a part of the campaign. I raise the pledge from $250 to $500 last few days ago because I think I cannot live with paper map. Cloth map is more cool! Very happy you guys can reach 850K goal so quickly!!!

    39. Creator Johannes 'Waldgeist' Rebhan on February 16, 2013

INFORMATION FOR GERMAN SUPPORTERS: If you don't have a credit card, or you have a friend who wants to support, doesn't want to wait for paypal and maybe even join the fun on kickstarter itself. Just direct them to one of the many virtual credit card services like for example www.mywirecard.com. You get a free virtual credit card that works like a standard Mastercard everywhere in the world. You can use that and register it on your amazon account, load it with some money and pay your kickstarter or whatever else virutal pleasure you want to purchase on the web. Spread the word. No need to loose your soul and pledge to one of the big banks for a credit card. :D

    40. Creator Chuck Payne l Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

Can't believe this is actually happening! You guys are gonna have blast making a game you've wanted to make for so many years!

    41. Creator ShadowNate on February 16, 2013

      Congrats! We've made it!

    42. Creator Giorgos Chrysikopoulos - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

@Fritjof de Almeida Johansson: Ragnar said no more cliffhangers, and also that Dreamfall: Chapters will conclude Zoe's story (the "Dreamer's Cycle"). However, that doesn't mean it's the last game of TLJ saga (nor of April's story) and we all hope that The Longest Journey Home stretch goal is that final, 4th game.

    43. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

@Seth: I think they said you get to choose which version you want, whenever you get digital or physical copy.

    44. Creator Seth Brown on February 16, 2013

If we're getting a digital copy of the game in our pledge, do we get a PC and Mac version if it reaches 900K?

    45. Creator Tina Bryntesen - Dream Traveller on February 16, 2013

@Jonah, Linux if we get to $900k, which is as close as you get to certain at this point. So don't worry!

    46. Creator Fritjof - DreamT-WoOS-KC:D-Shadow on February 16, 2013

I pledged at first $25 but switched to $50 instead to give a litte extra support. I really want to see how this game series will end. If it does indeed end that is.. Might even get a cliffhanger ending again. Who knows.

    47. Creator Freddy on February 16, 2013

YAY.....hope we will reach not 1 million but 2 !!!! :D Congrats to all of us :D

    48. Creator Raven Woods on February 16, 2013

Yaaaay! I hope we reached all of the stretch goals!

    49. Creator Ben Voynick on February 16, 2013

Woohoo! Now let's hit that million!
