The ShockStop Seatpost is an adjustable-stiffness suspension seatpost that will dramatically improve your ride by smoothing out the road. It is equally suited for an epic gravel adventure or just dealing with potholes on your daily commute.
You can adjust the spring rate and pre-load to match your specific riding style.
And with 35 mm of suspension travel, it's perfect for all types of riding: gravel / CX, e-bike, commuter, city, road, and even mountain.

Rough roads and trails are everywhere - you'll encounter them no matter where you ride. Modern bikes are designed for speed and efficiency, not comfort. Bumps and impacts are passed straight to the rider, leading to fatigue, pain, and even injury.
The ShockStop Seatpost suspends your body, isolating you from the imperfections of the road and trail. We optimized the travel and suspension kinematics to provide a plush, bottomless feel.
Typically, adding comfort to your bike meant sacrificing performance. The ShockStop Seatpost lets you ride faster and more efficiently by keeping you stable and allowing the bike to absorb rough terrain. This means you spend more time putting power to the pedals and less time bracing for impacts.
The ShockStop Seatpost is the rare product that increases comfort AND performance.
The ShockStop has an internal spring which applies force on the seatpost's four-bar linkage, which in turn suspends the saddle and rider. As you ride, the seatpost allows the bike to move under you as it encounters uneven terrain, which reduces the accumulated effects of bumps and vibrations by up to 60%. The four-bar linkage ensures that your saddle angle remains constant through the full travel of the suspension.
Using accelerometers in the lab and on the trail, we were able to accurately measure the direction and magnitude of impact forces transmitted to the rider. With that data, we optimized the travel of the ShockStop suspension mechanism to absorb as much of this impact energy as possible while minimizing the influence on the pedal stroke.
The suspension mechanism of the ShockStop Seatpost can be precisely tuned to match your riding style. First, a user-selectable in-line coil spring means a wide range of riders can take full advantage of the shock-absorbing benefits.
Then with the right spring in place, the adjustable preload allows fine tuning of the responsiveness without sacrificing any suspension travel.
The ShockStop Seatpost uses advanced manufacturing techniques, such as 3D forging, to integrate the suspension into a sleek design that fits compactly below the saddle.
Whether you're looking to just take the edge off the cracks in the road, or completely mute the gravel, the ShockStop Seatpost is the perfect solution.
What makes the ShockStop Seatpost different from other suspension seatposts? The short answer: A Lot! For the long answer, check out this project update.
Yes, you can! It takes just a couple minutes and requires only standard bike tools.
The ShockStop Seatpost will fit any bike that has a round seatpost 27.2mm in diameter or greater (the vast majority of bikes). If your bike has a seatpost that is larger than 27.2mm in diameter, inexpensive shims can be used to make it fit perfectly.
Bikes that have non-round seatposts (some triathlon or aero road bikes) or seatposts smaller than 27.2mm (rare) are not compatible.
At 350mm length, the ShockStop can be inserted with as little as 90mm exposed above the seat tube collar, or as much as 275mm exposed.
We designed the ShockStop Seatpost to be the perfect complement to the ShockStop Stem. They both take what was previously a rigid connection between the rider and the frame and add just the right amount of compliance without sacrificing control or efficiency. Together, they create a suspension system that will have you cracking a smile and choosing the cobble stone route - just because you can. But as much as we love the stem, we think our backers say it best...
We're mechanical engineers with a passion for cycling and a tendency to ask "how could this be better?" Five years ago, we started Redshift Sports to create innovative products that elegantly address real problems faced by cyclists. With the incredible support of our backers through two crowdfunding campaigns, we've been able to turn our ideas into a sustainable company. Today, there are tens of thousands of riders in over 65 countries riding with Redshift components on their bikes.
We have extensive product development and manufacturing experience, and we've built Redshift on a foundation of delivering the highest quality products. We've spent years building strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers and have a proven production and fulfillment infrastructure.
The best part about our job? We get to ride our bikes whenever we want ... all in the name of research and development.

Risks and challenges
Redshift was born on Kickstarter and our connection to the community keeps us coming back. We did our first campaign in 2013 and our 2nd in late 2015. We are lucky to have some of the best backers around and because of their support, we have been able to spend the last 5 years focused on designing, engineering, and manufacturing the highest quality bike components.
We care about our backers and have made it a priority to stay connected to them, and we continue to get amazing and positive feedback from them.
Our previous Kickstarter experience, combined with our product development background and knowledge of the bike industry, has given us strong existing relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers. It also means we understand the technical risks and challenges and how to reduce their impact on the production schedule.
Our main focus is on producing a high quality and safe product that reaches our backers as soon as possible.
We have worked hard to design a great product and want to make sure that all of our production parts are of the highest quality. We carefully selected our manufacturing partners based on previous experience with our other products and their proven track record with cycling products.
Over the years, we have taken numerous products (including our 2 Kickstarter projects) through the manufacturing process, so we know what steps are involved and how long they typically take. Our experiences have also taught us how best to manage suppliers to minimize delays.
All prototypes are not created equal – many are made using techniques that would be impossible to use in manufacturing. Our final prototypes were designed for manufacturing from the start. In addition, unlike some prototypes that just look like they work, our prototypes are fully functional and ready to be turned into production parts.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
