Red Peters- “For imMature Audiences Only”
It seems like only yesterday, but it’s actually been 30 plus years since I sang my 1st hit, “Blow Me (You Hardly Even Know Me)” in 1984 with the Babe Marino Orchestra and the Alan Pinchloaf Singers.
And 20 years since the release of my debut comedy music album, “I Laughed, I Cried, I Fudged My Undies!”- 15 years since we produced my 2nd album, “Ol’ Blue Balls Is Back!”. I’ve also recorded a handful of singles, but they were never part of a collection- until now!
I’m happy to announce that my producer, Babe Marino and I have started pre-production of my 3rd studio album, “For imMature Audiences Only”. This new record will include up to ten new songs and bits and will also feature 5 previously released singles.
1. "I Can't Say These Things"
2. "When I Jerk Off, I Think Of You"
3. "Have A Wonderful Hawaiian Christmas"
4. "The Christmas Gift (Just A Little Christmas Blowjob)" duet with Margaret Cho
5. "Blow Me (You Hardly Even Know Me)" duet with Todd Rundgren
As I look back on my career, I’ve made appearances in hundreds of cities and towns across America, visited dozens and dozens of radio stations, and met thousands of new friends and fans. I hosted and produced my own radio show, The Red Peters Comedy Music Hour on SiriusXM on The Howard Channels. I received a lifetime achievement award from the NYC Funny Song Festival, came in 1st and 2nd at the International Songwriting Competition in the comedy/novelty category, created an exclusive karaoke website for all my songs, hosted and produced a weekly comedy music podcast, The Song Snatch, and garnered many millions of views on youtube and social media. I’ve even placed my songs on television and in movies, and my songs “Blow Me” and “The Closing Song (Get The Fuck Out!)” close thousands of bars and clubs every night across America.
As an artist, I’ve done a lot of growing up and experienced a lot over the past 50 years. Plenty of ups and plenty of downs. And I think at this juncture in my life, my new material reflects this journey with a newfound level of immaturity and introspection unheard of in my previous recordings. Now is the time for me to complete my music trilogy before I face that final curtain.
I don’t want to give away too many surprises, but here’s a few examples of songs that I’m sure you’ll be singing along to in the near future.
From the folk and country tinged social commentary of “Sucking Wind”, to the self analyzing lyrics of “The Chicken Song”, to the easy going, unapologetic plea in the dreamy “Nude”, to the new country ballad that’s certain to sweep the wedding circuit, “The One For Me”, and the rousing song of celebration, “Happy Fucking Birthday!”
These are just a small handful of new titles just enough to wet your whistle! And you know what they say about small handfuls (never mind wet whistles).
We also have several other concepts in development that could easily blossom into tomorrow’s classic hits. There’s something for everybody on this one.
So over the next few months, my producer Babe Marino and I, along with Art Sandcrafts and other writers, numerous musicians and singers, videographers, illustrators and designers will be meeting and working together in the studio and beyond, to create and record new music and produce entertaining videos.
Our tentative launch date is Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
Here’s where you come in.
My first two albums had financial backing from record companies who put up a good chunk of change each time to cover all the recording costs and talent fees. This allowed us to stay in the studio and hatch some great material. But those days are gone and recording an album is expensive. The fact is, we had to pay all that money back and then some. And no thanks to the internet today, all music is now free! It’s never been more tough to make a dime.
So hence, we need to raise the money ourselves and we’re relying on you and your sense of adventure.
We plan to spend the funds on-
• Background singers
• Studio and engineer
• Vinyl pressing
• CD duplication
• Production of 2-3 videos
• Artwork + design
• Promotion and publicity
In exchange for your generosity, we’ve put together some really cool and unique rewards that hopefully will make your pledge a worthwhile investment. And if we should surpass our goal? We'll produce another video or two.
Some reward images-
Let’s face it, at my age, these could be my last recordings and the final chapter of my career.
Please give us a handy and be part of this historic effort and enjoy the new music and the many thank-you momentos we are offering in exchange for your generosity. We'll be adding some new, really cool rewards along the way, so keep an eye out for more great stuff!
Risks and challenges
There's always a chance we do not complete all aspects of the project by our self imposed release date. Some logistical challenges, such as locations and scheduling of video shoots and eventual location of record release party, may occur. These delays are typical and should not affect the integrity of the overall project.
