Grassroots Marketing and Decor Ideas
I am really thankful for the positive feedback and support I have received from all of you. It has been really inspiring.
I have had three game stores contact me regarding fliers that backers have been posted. They were quick to telling me about you guys spreading the word for this Kickstarter. I have sent a message to you regarding additional rewards. If you have not received the message, please contact me. If you have put out the fliers to some group or store that has not contacted me, let me know who and I will try to track them down to confirm and let them know I will be sending their store or group a Sample set at the end of this campaign. Thank you so much for your efforts. It is really sustaining the momentum of this project.
On a separate note, I was contacted by Wolfgang Baur of the indie publisher Kobold Press to let me know that he likes Blue Dungeon Tiles and will be talking about it in the next Kobold Press newsletter which comes out today or tomorrow. Hooray! Gamers are awesome people. If you are not familiar with their products, be sure to go check them out here or at the URL that follows.
All of the suggestions coming in have really inspired me and I will continue to work on and add the decor items. I cannot promise that I will get to all of them but I will do my best. Following are are some of the great ideas from from backers. Feel free so send me more ideas or even sketches if you wish.
Go Miyauchi: western decor like benches, bar counter, wagon etc.
I have a wagon and horses currently drawn that I showed in a previous update.
I plan to add some generic wood benches and a bar and also a cart.
I also have very sketchy and preliminary ideas for a series of 8x8 tiles that can folded down to 4x4 or 12x12 tiles that can be folded down to 4x6. There would be two big mega tiles. The first big mega tile would be the ground floor kitchen and bar of an Inn on one side and the Inn's sleeping rooms on the flip side. The second mega-tile would have the Inn's basement/cellar on one side and the Inn's stables on the flip side. If I get this done it will at least be free to download and print.
William Pomares: swarms that could be easily slid under party miniatures to show movement and to see who is under attack. Different mounts, top views of horses, riding dogs, worgs, griffons, a dragon? You could put your miniature on top of them for mounted battle. I love the look of the sarcophagus treasure chests and barrels. What about a treasure pile tile?
I added the treasure pile and horses (coming shortly). I especially like the idea of some large dogs and wolves that could be used stand alone or as mounts. Griffon and dragon.....hmmm, thinking on it.
I think some larger spell effects that you the backer could print on transparency* would also be cool. I need some feedback on this however. Older editions used circular templates but more recent versions of our favorite games uses stepped grid templates for spell effects. Any suggestions on how to represent this or does it just require two templates.
*I will research pricing but I do not have any current plans to include or offer transparent tiles or decor.
William Mathis: Modern office building and/or home furniture, futuristic spaceship and/or laboratory furniture, steampunk inspired steam and/or clockwork pieces.
Yes, especially lab and steampunk. I am also thinking of some vehicles but have yet to put pencil to paper. When I finish up the current round of fantasy themed decor I will switch back to some more tech themed decor.
Feel free so send me more ideas. If you are a budding artist or even a doodler and want to contribute, I will compensate and credit you for anything you that is used. Send me a message through the KS interface I will get you a direct email contact. Alternately you can reach me through Google+
