Hi everyone! 

WHY I AM DOING THIS... BY THOMAS KNIGHTS 

This is an exhibition that celebrates the beauty of the red haired male, It's about taking what has previously been seen as negative and turning it into a positive.

My aim to flip the negative ginger male stereotype on its head, and showcase ginger guys as leading men, as alpha males types. 

RED HOT has been gathering huge momentum online, with Conan O'Brien doing his own tongue in cheek rendition of the RED HOT video trailer, as seen in the video above or here:

In the UK and throughout the world, being ginger and male comes with many stigmas attached. Many guys are bullied at school and for some, even later in life. As far as I can see, no one has focused (or noticed) the huge, polarised gap between the way our society perceives red headed women (often the ultimate woman - think Jessica Rabbit) and red headed males (often emasculated and de-sexualised in film and TV - no Hollywood heroes - no leading men). 

No other hair colour has this level of gender inequality in any society, and RED HOT holds a mirror up to the pre-conceived limitations we put on red headed males. 

Essentially, what I’m doing is creating an exciting and revealing exhibition showcasing a positive outlook on the red-haired male, and aiming to re-brand the ginger male stereotype along the way.

This exhibition has an important social message about acceptance of people, regardless of the colour of their hair, skin or gender. Its about liberating an often marginalised section of the community and allowing freedom of expression without fear of repression.

Risks and challenges

Even though RED HOT has already received huge amounts of press online, its still a self funded project. I want, and need, RED HOT to be presented to the world in the best possible light. I have a brilliant gallery in the heart of London secured, http://www.galleryinredchurchstreet.com I now need help putting on the show, including printing the exhibition on portable foam boards so it can be easily transported after the show - as we aim to take it around the globe to bring this to a worldwide audience, and really help change the perception of ginger males throughout the world. Furthermore, in the next month I am also shooting two short videos to go into the exhibition.

With you're help, we can give RED HOT the platform it needs, and if it can stop just one child from being bullied, or even give them back some confidence, then that's worth every penny and the work that has gone into this project.

Being ginger and male myself, this is a personal quest I am passionate about and determined to make a success.
