Cosykiller Year 2: The Curse of King Humanrah
Building on the success of Cosykiller Year 1 - we're developing year 2's story - set in Egypt - now's the time to sign up and get perks
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, September 28 2018 11:01 AM UTC +00:00.
The Cosykiller Team are looking to attract backers for their next year's subscription box story: The Curse of King Humanrah.
Cosykiller is a one of a kind subscription Box - The first year's story successfully funded on Kickstarter this time last year.
Since then we've ironed out a lot of kinks, found out what people like, worked out how to actually WRITE and deliver such a complex storyline and employed an in-house design team to make the quality production easier to achieve.
What is it? Well - it's not a book, it's not a board game, it's not a dinner party - it's a story line, which allows YOU as the detective to solve a murder set in the "golden age of fiction".
Each box is packed with puzzles, clues, keepsakes and mementos which you need to review and unravel. What is important? What is critical to solving the crime? Who are the suspects? Do you have what it takes to piece together the evidence to make a coherent whole? It's like an Agatha Christie novel but with you playing Miss Marple! No conclusions are drawn; the puzzling and detection is up to you.
We plan to have the first box of Season 2 ready for Christmas - so if you want to be the FIRST to play "The Curse of King Humanrah" - sign up now. Our Kickstarter scheme offers the subscription plan at a discount, AND you get extras too! It would be a fantastic present for a super sleuth who need a year full of puzzling treats!
Please do share our project with friends you think might be interested in backing the latest story. If you haven't tried the original storyline - there's no need to have played year 1 first - however if you do want year one - it's already available through our website and on Cratejoy.
For the duration of the Kickstarter campaign we'll be running special conundrums behind the scenes. The first in the series is on our "update" page available to everyone, but all subsequent conundrums will be available exclusively to backers, so if you fancy a month of cryptic puzzles sent directly to your email, sign up as a backer - even £1 will give you this exclusive behind the scenes access!
Reviews from Last year's story...
"Let's get the downside out of the way first - CosyKiller is a year-long subscription. Telling one story over twelve monthly boxes, it's some commitment of money and time. BUT! What it gives you back for that subscription is unsurpassed in terms of mystery subscription boxes. There are no phone numbers to call that might end up disconnected after a few months, there are no websites to visit that might be taken offline at no notice, everything you need is there in the boxes. And what boxes they are - one month you might get a 128 page diary/journal containing two obvious ciphers and one very well hidden one. You might get twelve to sixteen letters from one character to another, including drawings and birthday or christmas cards. You might get clay artifacts, or death certificates, or shipping manifests, or telegrams, or.... You can read something in box 8 that reminds you of something in box 1 to find an inconsistency in testimony that feeds into the final solution - you can find ciphers in early boxes that are made more explicit later on, but still solvable at that early stage. The commitment is huge, but the project is major league, satisfying, intelligent, interesting and thoroughly recommended." Craig Johnson
"I am only three episodes in but the storyline is awesome and very gripping. I didn’t want to stop reading! You get very authentic items and they pay close attention to detail. Very impressed!" Lisa Smoot
"I must say I subscribe to a few of these puzzle boxes - the lat great Curios and Conundrums, Post Curious (OK so far), Hawthorne Junction from Hunt A Killer (Predictable and got the ultimate solution after reading the info) and their Empty Faces (ordered Sunday before last and it arrived before 11am the next Wednesday!) and all the stuff solved by Friday.
But Cosykiller is the BEST! Coherent storyline, intrigue, a nice thread throughout, emotional investment in the characters and the codes/ciphers...well strong enough to keep you hooked and involved." Becky Pearson
(As you can tell by the video - we're a great fun gang here at Cosykiller Headquarters.)
Risks and challenges
Having designed and delivered year 1 already - we're already very aware of the challenges and the ways to create the BEST experience possible for players.
Cosykiller plays with the senses and it's not just using your brain. our biggest challenge after having a very aroma filled story 1, will be getting a similar aromatic experience for story 2.
We already have a graphic design team, artists, printers and webdesigners on board who are able to bring the project to life.
We have set a realistic time-frame of delivery by December for the first box. This gives us time to create the full storyline, graphic design and other supplies in place.
This project carries little risk. We are already established, know what we're doing and used to subscription mail-order.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
