About this project

What will happen now?

I will try to have another Kickstarter campaign & learn from any mistakes.

You can keep up with updates by signing up to the monthly newsletter here, and joining the Facebook group here.

I will also post some important updates here.

You can still get the original version of the game at the Crazier Eights store here or use the link below to get it using PayPal!

Fun for experienced fantasy game players & easy for everyone!

Crazier Eights: Camelot is a fantasy card game with excellent art and fun card abilities with an Arthurian-theme. There are fifty three unique cards, and many represent characters and other elements from the King Arthur stories, such as Queen Guinevere, Merlin, Avalon, and the Holy Grail.

This is a good chance to introduce friends & family to a fantasy card game with awesome card abilities that is easy for everyone to learn!

More information about the rules can be found here.

You can watch us play the game in this unscripted video, or in the new professional video below!

Paid Review by the Undead Viking

(Video) "It's one of those perfect filler games... I brought it to my recent family reunion. Everybody there loved it. The game is just straightforward, it's fun, it's challenging, it's got great art, it has a simple rules set..."

Review by the Kwarenteen

(Video) "It's outstanding, I cannot recommend this game enough." He also tested out two expansions (Valley of the Nile and Eternity.) He recommends Valley of the Nile, but not Eternity.

Review by Board Games & Bourbon

(Video) "Is the game something you want? You have to ask yourself how much time do you want to spend on a game... If you want something where you're spending more time deliberating what to do, this might be for you."

Review by I Teach Her, She Wins

(Video) "Great game, it can be as simple as you want it, as complicated as you want it, changes with time like a good red wine."

Critique par Inod (French)

(Text) Critique de Crazier Eights: Camelot par Inod

Review by Benjamin David

(Video) "Crazier Eights is a simple little card game. I can see it working best with those new to gaming or perhaps middle schoolers as it's obviously better than round after round of Uno."

Review by Two Gun Pixie

(Text) "I think where this game really comes to life is in the effects of playing Event and Asset cards. Not only can they shake up the game but because they can be destroyed or stolen another level of strategy emerges to help you win the game." They also reviewed the Valley of the Nile and Eternity expansions, and liked them. See their live play video here.

Review by Mark Meredith

(Text) Mark Meredith posted his review on Dice Monkey. "Where the game really shines is that once you have multiple assets out on the table, keeping an eye on all of the ongoing effects changes the game dramatically. It feels a bit like Fluxx at this point, where with every card you play, you have to keep an eye out on the table for everyone else’s abilities."

Review by Andrew Smith

(Text) Andrew Smith posted his review on The Family Gamers. He concluded, "Crazier Eights: Camelot is a good game with unique content, while tapping into some of same mechanics and elements other games use with success. It’s easy to learn and teach, quick to play, and fun. I recommend it for kids and adults looking for a game that uses some planning and strategy.."

Review by Go Fatherhood

(Text) All in all, I’d say that Crazier Eights is definitely an interesting variation on Crazy Eights with more complexity and considerably more strategy required. Possibly imbalanced for just two players, you can play with up to four or add a second deck and play with up to eight people at the same time!

Review by Dad Mostly Loses

(Text) James Freeman reviewed it with his son. Check out what they thought here.

Review by Fairway 3 Games

(Text) “Camelot definitely takes the Crazy Eights game and makes it crazier. The nicely integrated art is welcome. And by introducing Fluxx-like rules changes and new sets of powers and effects, Crazier Eights will definitely appeal to fans of Fluxx-like games and to those who enjoy Crazy Eights but want some more strategy.”

Review by One Board Family

(video) "Once we started getting used to the cards and we became more familiar with it, we had some great gaming moments... Uno is a fun-ish family card game, but you do eventually realize it's all luck. You have very little choice involved in the game of Uno. You have very little choice involved in playing Uno. This takes the simple concept of Uno... but adds to it. There's now some strategy involved. You have to think about your moves."

Review by Timothy Mattes

(text) "Any person that loves the OG card games and is looking for a fresh look at a fantastic classic please, look at Crazier Eights. I personally am excited that this game was created and presented to the industry and I feel that the industry as a whole will be remiss to overlook this title."

Review by Throat Punch Games

(text) "I like its simple nature, the rules work well, and the art and theme tie things together. It’s not perfect, but the flaws are few and far between. I think the fluxx comparison is a good one. It doesn’t have the humor of Fluxx, but the serious art drives home the theme and keeps me in the game." He gave the game a 92% overall! Check out the full review, he talks about a lot of different elements of the game.

Look to the upper right side of the screen to find links to make a pledge for the desired reward.

The Jumbo deck is a Kickstarter exclusive -- I will print some promotional copies, but they will not be for sale anywhere else.

 About Add-ons

Add-ons are bonus rewards beyond what is offered for the basic reward options.

Buyers outside the USA have to get a reward of the regular version (original or Camelot) to use the add on for the regular version, and the reward for the jumbo version to get the add on for the jumbo version.

Buyers in the USA can use any add ons they want.

Stretch goals activate/become unlocked when sufficient funding is reached.

The Valley of the Nile expansion has fifteen cards with an Egypt theme. You can shuffle the cards into the deck before you start playing.

If I get a total of 100 people to join the Crazier Eights Facebook Group, then I will have a free print & play for the Valley of the Nile Expansion with black and white illustrations. Go here to join the group. There's already around 30 people so far.

Shipping costs

Shipping is going to cost me more than what you pay here. In the USA, shipping will be between $3.5 for the regular version, but I charge you $3.

Shipping overseas can cost over $13 for the regular version, but I will only charge you $12.

What's Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is crowd funding. This is your chance to help make a dream a reality and get rewarded for doing so.

This is your chance to make Crazier Eights: Camelot a reality. If you make a pledge, you choose a reward. When the game is funded (has $3,000 of pledges), you will get the reward as soon as possible. The game is scheduled to be released by April 2017.

If the game does not get $3,000 by the end date, I will not have enough to fund manufacturing. In that case no one will be charged any money.

Money back guarantee

You will enjoy the game, or you can return it for a full refund.

More information

Add-ons are bonus rewards beyond what is offered for the basic reward options.

Buyers outside the USA have to get a reward of the regular version (original or Camelot) to use the add on for the regular version, and the reward for the jumbo version to get the add on for the jumbo version.

Buyers in the USA can use any add ons they want.

You can get add ons to get a total of 10 copies of the regular version of Camelot, 10 copies of the original version of Crazier Eights, and 10 copies of the Jumbo version. You can't get more than 10 copies of any item for your total reward

Risks and challenges

I depend on some third parties -- such as the manufacturer and postal service. I can't guarantee that no unforeseen problems arise from them. I will do what I can to overcome obstacles, such as sending a second package when one is lost in the mail.

The funding goal does not cover all the shipping charges, and I am willing to pay out of pocket if necessary.
